“Good wine and great ambinet, a bit pricy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2012

Hidden behind the major Nanjing road/ JW Marriott, Napa located in a nice villa with excellent collection of wine also because their partner of ASC (major wine distributor in China). Nice outdoor area if weather is nice to sip some great wine. For food it ok but a bit pricy.

“Christmas Lunch - success on a plate...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2011

Visiting Shanghai over Christmas...you know you want something special...something that builds on the traditional turkey roast and the Napa Wine Bar and Kitchen gets top marks from this British family.

From the smoked salmon, through the chestnut soup the expectations built; the main course provided all the taste of the traditional turkey roast and the desert finished every one off in style. It was an excellent , modern take on the traditional Christmas lunch, served by highly competent staff in stylish surroundings.

“Fantastic food, great wine, superb value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2011

Napa restaurant is located in a former grand residence just off People Square. The wine list is extensive and the sommelier extremely knowledgeable and offers great advice on the best wines to accompany your meal. This is not a restaurant for people on a limited budget.

The food is always very fresh, perfectly cooked and presented. If you can afford the prices it is highly recommended

“The food is tasty and well prepared but prices are simply outrageous”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2011

Service and food were very good. Extensive wine list but far too many overpriced wines. The cost of a main dish is simply ridiculous (between 220 and 380 rmb). There are many restaurants in Shanghai that offer comparable food at 50-60% of what you pay here. We went on a Saturday night and the place was mostly empty.
Do not plan to ever go back unless the owners do something about their prices.

“Stay away !”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2011

This is a pretentious place with an amazingly overpriced wine list and terrible food ...
I had a beef carpacio full of water as the meat was still defrosting in my plate ... So watery that I sent it back ... The manager told me that it wasn't water but olive oil ...
The main course could have been ok if it didn't arrive totally cold.
The only positive note the waitress was nice and funny but could not compensate by herself this pretentious cuisine which was really out of control ...

Stay away ....
