“valid, do not miss”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013 via mobile

Although we had booked we had to wait in the bar area at least 30 minutes. The dinner 'was very pleasant, the quality' of the flow rates were up to the name of the restaurant. Very special restaurant for the environment and the atmosphere. if you are in Shanghai you have to have a dinner here. Perhaps if drinks wine can appear expensive.

“Terrible service with overpriced mediocre food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

I do not know how coconut paradise manage to win any awards any more. 4 years ago, this place was top of my list. Now you will have to pay me to go there.

Booking/reservation is useless. Still land up waying for 1 hour place. In the cold -3 degree, this is no fun.

The tables are so tightly packed next to each other that it was borderline street market style but at a high price. When I say high price, I mean very bad value for money. For the same price, I rather go to Simply Thai. In any case, the place is VERY uncomfortable.

The Thai food here tastes like Chinese food with spice on it. The seafood did not look savoury. The waitron was rude and frequently walk away when anyone calls for service. Unattentive is really a BIG understatement.

It also kills the waitron to get more menus. Her reasoning is, "We only give one menu per table." ???!!!! What is wrong with this place? We're a party of 6.

Don't waste your time or money at this place. Really not worth it.

“Coconut Paradise got a big thumbs up from my Thai wife”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

The food in this restuarant is great. Not super hot and pitched at the non thai market. Having said that the dishes were very close to Thai cooking, full of all the correct flavours, that all present could eat. The fact that we ordered a lot and ate a lot spoke for itself.
Booking is a must and we wondered how they would know who had booked and who had not. As usual in an organised chaos, typical Chinese / Thai way we stood by the bar in a packed restuarant and about five minutes later we were sitting at our table upstairs. A miracle or good management?
Price is about middle of the road. Service came quickly and efficiently.
On the down side is the toilets and wash rooms, very small and not the cleanest!!
Toilets aside a great meal and we would definately go back

“Food - Great Bookings - Questionable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

Great food with a fantastic mix of flavours and if it is warm you can sit outside under the trees. They need to think further about the timings of their bookings - our table was not ready until quite some time after our booking. Maybe looking for some extra drinks orders?

“This ain't Paradise!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

I don't even know where to start. Oh , yeah maybe first thing i should say is that i can't kill this taste of disgusting shrimp that was served in some kind of maggi-glue sauce and called braised king prawn in garlic. Than pineapple fried rice arrived with frozen peas and not chili how traditional Thai cuisine dictates but way to much pepper. Red Snapper was in the same sauce that shrimp, but it was called 3 flavors sauce. All of the three flavors were crap.
I can go on and on, but it's just a waste of time. This place have nothing to do with Thai Food and the sad part is that it wasn't cheap. It was one of the worst foods i ever ate in my life.
