the hostel was nice. has a nice room and the accommodation was great, too. people in the front desk are nice and there's this one girl, i think her name was daisy, and one guy, he's her partner in the front desk during night shifts, they're really really nice and always smiles :) the hostel is very near the EXPO... we had a great stay.. THANK YOU so much!

I agree with many other comments about the general atmosphere : the staff is warm and very nice. The lobby is charming. The neighborhood is a very safe family area. The hostel is just behind the LuBan Road metro station. When you arrive, everything makes you feel good… until you open the door of the room. Then you regret.
I booked a « Double Private Ensuite room ». The room the staff gave us was… 4 yellow walls, no window, no deco, just one Ikea Bed in the middle. A junk room. Should be forbidden to rent. Private Bathroom ? A shower not separated from the toilets. Jails are better : you just want to suicide !!
My wife and I thought that the best room of a hostel would be better than an economic room of a hotel. We were wrong. The staff didn’t accept a change. At that moment, we had no other choice but to stay. The lack of window makes the room off course totally black once you turn off the light but more than that : it gives you a claustrophobic feeling, even though you are usually not claustrophobic. As if it’s not enough, in the absolute darkness you start to hear the neighbors as if there are in the room. It was just hell...
This hostel is not that cheap and I’m sure you can find much better for the same price. If not, pay more for another hotel, whatever do not risk to get the same room than us.

Directions they gave from the airport were good. It was clean. Good value. We stayed in 3 different rooms as I could not get the same room for the whole time. One of the rooms had no window, which is not unusual in Shanghai, but I have never stayed in a room without a window before. I stayed with my 19 year old son and 20 year old daughter. Reception staff spoke English well and were very helpful. People were allowed to smoke in the reception area, which was not nice. Common room was cosy. Only 2 small washing machines which were in use a lot. Across the road from Luban Road metro station, and 15 mins walk to an entrance of Expo, so very convenient position. Beds were 8cm foam on pine base - very hard to sleep on. My daughter had bruises! Rooms were sufficiently soundproofed that we did not hear anyone else once the door was closed. Free internet and free computers to use.

Stayed here for 5 nights and enjoyed it. Obviously it depend who else is staying when you are, but when I was there it was buzzing with 20 year old which was nice, and theres a nice tv section you can watch a film, or play pool go on the net for free, read some books.... the staff were very freindly and smiley. I stayed i a twin bed with privated bathroom which was good value for money at about 7 yuan a night each. The bathrrom wasnt that clean, but not too bad. But the water from the shower always soaked the floor after - but thats fine too. The locations not central ut its so easy and cheap - 3 yuan for a single subway ride to any location so you can get everywhere quickly and easily. Also beware of the crazy zig zag staricase which was a killer with the backpack!!! but im weak and everythings a killer with the backpack! Also the walls are paper thin so not too good if youre a light sleeper, and also people can smoke in the lobby which wasnt very nice as it seeped down the corridors and was quite overpowering, esp if you dont smoke. They have free interent but its very slow and disturbed, and also they serve food

Rooms, Bathrooms, etc. are clean and in good shape.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, and speak good English. The rates are great given the mean rate level in Shanghai. Don't worry about the location, because you just step from the door into the metro. The do offer everything they claim - from luggage storage to the free WiFi.
The place has a great atmosphere - not just in good shape, but handsomely decorated with pictures, letters, etc.; the common room is downright cozy. Not to mention that there's enough backpackers, travellers etc, both from China and abroad to befriend.
If you want a hostel, take this one.
