“Good safe Location. Easy access to sight by nearby metro.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

Stayed on 12 floor. 4 nights triple room only £195 including breakfast which was bargain!

Typical Chinese breakfast. Buns, soup, noodle. eggs, pickle. Cereals and toast as well. Lots of great coffee - unusual in china :)

About 10 minutes walk to nearest metro. Safe area! Lots of fast food shops and large supermarket nearby.

Considering prices for hotels in Shanghai this was very good. Slightly outside main area, but hey - public transport so good and cheap!!

The best part of this hotel is its location. It is right next to bus station and the Metro. Connectivity is very good.
Rooms are clean and comfortable, but very basic. Porter service is not available. Room service is not available.
Asking for small things is very difficult because virtually nobody speaks English.
Breakfast was also not very satisfactory compared to otehr hotels we encountered on our tour.

We had 4 nights in this hotel on a recent trip to Shanghai. The staff were all very helpful at the front-desk and assisted us with any queries or requests.

We had booked a non-smoking room but when we arrived they said it was no longer available and therefore the moved us to a smoking room. This wasn't a major issue but wasn't a great start to the experience. The room was of a good size but lacked character and décor. Wireless was available everywhere, which was good.

The low-point was the breakfast. The food wasn't of great quality, especially the coffee. On the last morning, they had run out of butter and jam by 8am. Considering I don't eat noodles or congee at this time, this made my breakfast even poorer.

The hotel was well-located, although the area around the train station isn't very nice and didn't seem very safe for people walking back alone to the hotel late at night.

Overall, the hotel was generally fine but lacked the small extras that could make it a lot better.

I had two good experiences with this hotel during my trip to China. It's a standard Holiday Inn and it's clean. Try to reserve a non-smoking room if you don't smoke cause the smoking rooms are very stuffy and the air quality isn't great. I know the air pollution is Shanghai is an issue so coming back to your room at night to sleep in somewhat breathable air was a priority to me. The breakfast was good, with different types of food for both Chinese and English visitors. Breakfast is crowded but I enjoyed the people watching. The food in the bar area for lunch or dinner isn't that great nor are the alcohol selections. If you don't mind walking, the railroad station down the way has lots of other options including noodles, McDonald' and KFC. The convenience stores have snack foods and fruit. It's an easy walk to the subway but make sure you get off at the right station when you return or you will have a long walk back to the hotel. Make the hotel staff show you which station to use. The subway is fairly easy to use just make sure you have change for the ticket machines. There is also another Holiday Inn nearby so make sure you take the address card with you if you are taking a taxi so you get the right one. This Holiday Inn is a bit out of the way for most tourist excursions but the nice thing is you can check your packages at the desk and pick them up upon your return. The staff speaks some English. It's sort of hit or miss here but they are very helpful. There is also currency exchange machine in the lobby as well as an ATM.

The hotel is a typical Holiday Inn Express, but for its young age appears just a tad worn down in the rooms. The service is fine; all the receptionists speak English. It is a good value for a room, but the location is less than ideal (a train station -- a metro ride is necessary to go anywhere). There is a cafe downstairs that is open from 6AM to 10PM, and there is also a free breakfast. The free breakfast was not tasty and made my stomach unsettled, however. I would only stay here again if I had a lack of other choices.

We stayed at this hotel as it was included in a package. I would never have picked this hotel. The carpets in the room were sticky, the room had an odour of stale cigarettes and even though we were on the 22nd floor we could still hear the trains going by. The food for breakfast was not of tourists. We found one member of reception staff who spoke english and asked about tourism information. We were 'loaned' a brochure and had to return it to the staff member as they only had one. Definately not a hotel for tourists, not an area for tourists and not food for tourists. Maybe it suits business? I have since made a complaint to our holiday company who put us here and I am keenly awaiting their reply.

The hotel was clean and quiet, the location was excellent around 7 minutes walk to the Railway Station and the tube station. The receptionist spoke English. We could use the Internet at any time as they have computers for the guests' use. What we disliked about the hotel was the breakfast. Everyday they serve the same food and what is more the food is very low quality. It has no taste. Anyway, I really liked the standard of the room and bathroom. I definitely recommend this hotel but don't count on the breakfast:)
