“Uprising Beach Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

The Uprising Beach Resort was our 3rd stop on our holiday in Fiji & by far the best. The Resort was excellent in every way possible. The Bure we stayed in well very nice & cose to the beach & all the amenities. The Staff were extremely helpful & very friendly & cheerful. The restuarant & bar provided 5 star food including the Seafood platter which was reasonably priced (order 24 hours prior). Well worth the stay & look forward next time we visit Fiji.

Stayed here for 6 night s. Staff were friendly and helpful. Villa 12was immaculate and very comfortable. Pool was a good size..beach was sandy and safe although there was a little rubbish. There is volleyball and we paid for a 2hours snorkelling trip which was well worth it for $70 per adult. We hired a car and it took 180 minutes to drive here from the airport..was a straight road ( watch for stray cows and horses).
Food was good for Fiji although got sick of fried food in general.
Try the high ropes and zip line at Zila eco tours 20mins away by car...great thrills for all ages.
No free WiFi anymore which would be my only criticism as still says free in room blurb...however stopped me checking my email s while on holiday so all good.

I stayed for 2 nights at uprising in a large mixed dormitory as there were no bures available, and I did not regret it. The dorm while simple was airy, spacious & clean. the bure is not locked but lockers were available for valuables. The bathrooms looked like they had been recently renovated - so it was a shame some disrespectful guests used them to wash the sand off instead of using the outdoor showers provided near the pool. An improvement would be some furniture - some chairs & table - on the deck of the shared bure as there is nowhere to sit except on a bunk or on the floor. there is also nowhere to prepare food or tea & coffee, so you must eat at the resort or down the road. The resort is about 15min easy walk to a small retail area that has a convenience store, some other food outlets, a bank & ATM and souvenir shops if you need anything.

The resort itself is set right on the beach, which is nice & long, and has a sandy bottom suitable for swimming. the grounds were immaculately landscaped & there was a lovely clean pool & plenty of sun loungers. The food available at the on-site bar/restaurant was very good although maybe a bit pricey for budget travelers (FJD14-28, average FJD18/meal). It was good to have breakfast included in the room price, but it was very simple - the fresh fruit was the highlight. I caught the Pacific bus back to Nadi airport which took about 3 1/4 hrs, and cost FJD12.50, which made it very accessible. All in all, I was happy with my stay there & hope I can return one day. :)

Room Tip: The shared dormitory is a great budget alternative for independent travelers as it has full access t...

Bula Vinaka Ristari and thank you for reviewing and recommending us
We are happy you enjoyed the Mini Dorm accommodation facility at Uprising. This facility is a smaller shared facility/dormitory and definitely allows for a little more privacy than the larger Tree House Dormitory. We are currently working on adding this accommodation option to all online booking sites, to ensure guests are able to book this if they prefer. You important suggestions have been noted and we would like to acknowledge that we are very soon about to begin a refurbishment of all our accommodation facilities, including lounge furniture, and all amenities available in the Mini dorm Bure/Cottage. We will be publishing updates through our Facebook page, and Website in due course.
Once again Ristari, we are very happy that you enjoyed your accommodation lodging at Uprising, the our food & beverage services and options, as well as the overall atmosphere. We definitely look forward to having you back and we wish you all the best in your future travels. Vinaka Vakalevu from Everyone at Uprising.

Out of the city's, on the beautiful coast line. If you want to just get away from it all. This is the place. We had a Beachfront Bure that came with an open air outside shower. GREAT. No TV, just the sound of the sea and a few other guests all enjoying the same. The restaurant and bar was a great place to meet up at the end of a hard day of sight seeing or relaxing at the pool/beach. We really enjoyed the differance here than staying in a big hotel. Would deffinatly stay here again. TIP: Catch the bus that go's to Suva twice a day. They will drop you at the resorts gate and just a walk up the drive. Cost was around $15.AUS. Didn't see a kid at all during our stay. Really a couples getaway. If you are a diver you can dive with the Sharks at Bega reef. NO CAGE........ It was safe and an exsperance I will never forget.

Bula Vinaka MarathonManMelbourne
We are pleased you enjoyed the beachside location and overall resort atmosphere here at Uprising. Although we are close to the Capital City of Suva, only a 45 min drive away, and the Capital City has it’s unique attractions, the small beachside town of Pacific Harbour, where we are located seems worlds apart! We are happy you took the time to visit the Capital of Fiji, and we hope you enjoyed this. Basing yourself in a coastal resort, with mainland convenience, definitely is a wise choice when you are looking for a holiday that includes venturing out and exploring the landmarks and attractions available close by.
We thank MarthonMan once again for taking time out to review Uprising. We look forward to seeing you again soon, and best wishes on your travels from Everyone at Uprising.

We are currently renting a villa in Pacific Harbour for a month and have made Uprising our go to and favourite place to be. Will def stay there when we return on our next visit.
Had a wonderful massage which cost $27.50 AUD. They were re-thatchingthe massage hut (which is next to the beach) so i got to check out one of the thatched bures where they tempoarily relocated their massage services). Have had numerous meals there at all times of the day - always great. Coffee is the best I've had in Fiji thus far.. Staff wonderful , even when I managed to drop a couple of latte glass cups. The restaurant area is about 30 metres from and overlooks the beach. Awesome views, lovely breezes and sooo relaxing..

We spent night 2&3 of our honeymoon at the uprising and it was excellent. Knowing that we were on honeymoon, they gave us their honeymoon package included with the room. We got an upgraded chalet, a free 3 course meal, a free bottle of something sparkling, and a free 1hr massage each. Absolutely spot on. The is a backpackers hostel here as well, but the villas are absolutely excellent and worth the upgrade if you can afford it. They also arranged for me to go shark diving with beqa adventure divers in pacific harbour, I just told them I wanted to go and they did the rest. Again, staff were excellent, food was well priced and nice to eat, beer was cheap (for Fiji).

Bula & Congratulations to you Seanmor
We are happy that you have enjoyed very special honeymoon holiday at Uprising. Just to provide a little information on our journey, Uprising was opened in 2007, with two styles of accommodation; these were the shared/dormitory facilities and classic bures/private facilities. In 2010 the Commodores Villas, were opened as an addition to the range of accommodation styles available at Uprising. These villas now make up our deluxe range rooms, allowing us to cater to travellers such as yourself, offering more privacy, and comforts right on the beach, while on holiday. Once again we are very happy you enjoyed your time within the resort and you enjoyed the villa. We are also happy your enjoyed your day diving with Beqa Adventure Divers. It was our pleasure providing assistance to you while booking this.
Once again a big Vinaka vakalevu for taking time to review Uprising. We look forward to seeing you very soon, and from Everyone at Uprising, congratulations once again.

I think Uprising has something to offer many a traveller. It seems its great for families, great for a romantic holiday and great for solo travellers alike. We came on a romantic holiday but found it fun meeting other travellers who were travelling solo as we're very sociable people. The resort offers backpacker lodging as well as well as luxurious individual bures (suites) but the two a very separated so you don't have to worry about noisy backpackers if you're there for a romantic getaway.
Our bure was really spacious and as well as a completely equipped bathroom there was a big outdoor rain-shower which was the best part. There was a TV that rotated in the wall between the bedroom and living area (loved that too!). The only problem is getting to the resort, which is quite an expensive taxy ride but compared to more expensive resorts near the airport it was still worth it (plus we found an awesome deal on the internet).
The food could be a little slow at times but it was good and not expensive. We enjoyed the fijian dinner night - worth buying in and trying, and the buffet breakfast included in our stay was good, although wish there were eggs included. There is also a little grocery store about a 20min walk away so you're not stranded. All the employees were extremely friendly and accommodating and I was impressed that the waitresses new us by name very quickly.
The pineapple smashing competition was great fun and on the weekend there was a large game of volleyball going on. We also got massages which were reasonably priced and very relaxing by the in-house masseuse. Definitely a relaxing and enjoyable getaway, but check the weather first - I think we came in the rainy season!

Room Tip: We had a bure with outdoor shower, a beach view would've been best but the garden bures were not...
