“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

Our visit, one of many over 40years, was to evaluate the resort with a view to bringing grandchildren on the next trip. The resort is a shadow of its former self, with patchy repairs, on-going renovations, plumbing upgrades, a distinct lack of sand and few patrons. I am told that the resort was devistated by a hurricane and repairs are taking some time to complete.Additional to these things, the vegetation has been allowed to create a canopy over most of the island resulting in large shady grass/sand areas which are of little use to sunseekers. The marine reserve, established when Treasure was constructed, is a shadow of its former self. Too many boat movements on the western side has kiiled off the coral for about 100metres and I saw at least 5 people fishing (and catching fish) openly in the reserve confines. The staff were lovely and attended to their duties capably, but I sensed discontent among the several I spoke with. No complaints, but a general dissatisfaction with the overall character of the resort. The inter action with staff and facilities at Beachcomber resort has ceased after change of ownership, which takes away those activities aimed at teens, and older, meaning little for those ages on Treasure. The redeeming feature is the standard of food, the quality and presentation of which has been maintained to a very good standard.
Maybe with the disasters occurring over the past year or so, the resort is still getting up to speed, but I feel that it has a long, long way to go.

Room Tip: Rooms on the eastern side are closest to the water but furtherest away from the main buildings

We spent only one night on Treasure Island but it was very beautiful.
Staff is very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The bungalows are spacious, modern and clean. You can walk around the island in about 20 minutes if you take it very slow.
Swimming in the ocean is more comfortable during high-tide as it is a little rocky. Alternatively, there is a very nice pool.
Food in the restaurant is delicious. It is more pricey than its neighbour island "Beachcomber" which is more for backpackers and a party place.
It was worth the money.
There were also some families as they have a kids programme during the day.

Treasure Island really is a treasure. Whilst it could do with few bob spent on it, it really didn't matter and arguably added to the character. There's an awful lot of mission brown around and in many ways a blast from the (70s) past.

Food was ok without being great. We chose the full board meal plan and whilst we ate several times our own bodyweight the range, especially for evenings was a little limiting. Cost-wise the meal plan is great as there are no surprises at the end. Others have said don't bother, I'm not so sure. Having kids make it good as they are hard to predict how much they will eat. My 10 year old can find kids meals small, but not a problem here.

Kids club is fantastic...even our 3 uber-sceptics could not enough of it and couldn't wait to go back for more! We travelled outside of school holidays (tut tut) so often they were 3 of only 5! But the enthusiasm of both kids and carers was undiminished. A good mix of quality family time and parental bliss was found.

There were day trippers to the island but were few in number and made no real difference. In school holidays that might be a different matter.

The staff were just amazing, almost without exception.

Will we be back? You bet!

A nice place if you want a family friendly and relaxing holiday. We stayed in an Island Bure and found it to be very comfortable and nice. Not a huge island (you can walk around it in about 10-15 minutes), but it is big enough that the Bures are reasonably well spread out. It was good to hire a kayak and paddle around for a few hours. The snorkelling was good and the water was clear. We took the pre-paid meal plan for most of our stay but in hindsight would have chosen to go with the a la carte and other meal options so that we could have had some flexibility in daily choices. It is worth considering the available choices / options before making a decision regarding meals. The food was good but not great. However, the Fish Kokoda was excellent and delicious!!

Treasure Island is pure paradise. The staff are incredibly hospitable and lovely people. The resort is well kept and very beautiful. The bures are clean and tidy but all are a very similar distance from the beach so I wouldn't worry too much about paying extra for a beachfront stay. The food is pretty good but takes a very long time to be served at dinner time. The island activities are generally well organised but were sometimes disappointing. Some of the dive shop activities weren't always scheduled at the best times (eg. fishing) so make sure you look into which times are best to go before booking. All in all though, a lovely place to stay! Great for families and couples.

We stayed here for nine nights in March. I have never had so much fun in my life. The staff are beautiful and were amazing with our kids. We did everything and we did nothing. The food and entertainment were great. Will definately be back.

Stayed at Treasure Island for 2 nights. Found the bar and restaurant staff very friendly. Food was below average quality and expensive. Bure was lovely but bathroom wasn't the cleanest. Some of the gardens and areas seemed a bit neglected. Lots and lots of families - which didn't suit us, however the evening entertainment was very family focused and they probably get a lot of repeat business. Not a 4/5 * resort but charging 4 * prices.
