“Very good with some improvement needed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

Having read everything from 'terrible' to 'excellent' we wanted to leave our thoughts. We stayed for five nights in an ocean breeze room. The room was spacious and comfortable with a nice bathroom and shower. Good range of movies on the TV. They are noisy though. Doors bang and floorboards creak so you can hear your neighbours moving around which can be a little disturbing. That said this's didn't disturb us while sleeping.

Location is fantastic, lovely beach and pool. Good choice of poolside seating and views of the ocean. The pool isn't huge but good for a dip. There is one tennis court which is perfectly functional. Racquet hire is free.

Food wise the restaurant serves good quality food. The a la carte menu is somewhat limited but two out of 5 nights we had buffets (both different) which added to the variety. A lot of people have commented on cost. The restaurant food prices are very expensive and are pushed up because of the celebrity chef that runs the kitchens. So is it worth the price?.... The food quality is excellent and innovative but the service that comes with it does not reflect it. We would have to ask for drinks twice, would get the wrong food and some parts of our orders were occasionally forgotten. With the price you're paying you don't expect that. The staff need some real help in delivering fine dining, or the prices and whole dining experience need toning down.

Other meals were good though, breakfast had everything you'd want and lunch seems to have been fixed as there are now sandwich options and lighter bites available.

Building work seems to be quieter than other reviews suggest so it must be improving, it did not disturb our stay at all.

During the day there are many activities laid on (volleyball, soccer, kava tasting, singing etc) and you can take part or leave be as you wish.

Another note would be on transfers. If you are trying to get to the resort any other way than from the Sheraton Denerau on the standard ferry you will find it very difficult. It is possible but it is hard and we found the support from the resort to be completely lacking and disjointed. We thought we could let them know the problem and they would have a number of options for us but no such luck. We got it sorted but beware!

Related to this is the general responsiveness and initiative that seems absent in the staff. As an example, I had arranged this as a surprise for our engagement. Emails had been going back and forth for a couple of weeks and my questions weren't getting answered, responses were slow and nothing got sorted. I wasn't happy and said as much. On arrival there was no mention of any of this, no apology and nothing 'special' given that it was for an engagement. I didn't expect the world but just some of the little touches could have made such a big difference.

So there are things to work on as mentioned and our recommendation to the Sheraton would be to appoint a customer relations person who is your go to person and gets things sorted. Equally someone patrolling the restaurant at night checking everything is in order would help too.

All in all we had a fantastic time here and were pleased with what we got based on previous reviews. If the Sheraton work on the above the 5 stars will be well deserved.

Room Tip: Ocean breeze rooms are away from construction and spacious. They do not have an ocean view though so...

We had a lovely stay here and it will be perfect with just a couple of improvements!
Firstly - the arrival - we flew in and then checked in at Sheraton Denerau and were transferred shortly after to the Port to catch our comfortable ferry to Tokoriki. After just over an hour we arrived at the island - with a small boat coming to pick us up from the ferry - nice experience sailing into the island with the staff singing to welcome us. We were served cool drinks on our arrival which was a nice touch. After discovering an issue with the aircon in our room, we were kindly upgraded to a beachfront room - highly recommend it, worth the extra price if you are trying to decide between rooms and I'm so glad we got upgraded as the island breeze rooms don't have any views from their decks.

The room, bathroom and deck with the sun lounges were all nice and of a decent size. It was so relaxing sitting on the deck reading or having a coffee while listening to the waves, looking out to the sea.
Great selection of movies available on the tv in the room
Staff are really friendly and helpful, always smiling!
Beautiful pool area - very inviting!
Beautiful outdoor dining area as well with amazing views
Seamless transfers - on the way back, we were met by a Sheraton rep in Denerau and they had organised a bus to the airport as well - on a complimentary basis.
Most of all - the location is just stunning - looks like a perfect tropical paradise! Crystal clear, warm water, white sand, beautiful sunsets from the heli landing area and if you walk over the small hill towards the other resort - an even better beach!

Areas for improvement:
Food prices in the restaurant are exorbitant for what you get - the food is average and not worth the price, especially dinner.
Free wi-fi is only provided for the first day of your stay. In the resort next door, free wi-fi is available all the time, so not sure why the Sheraton isn't able to offer that as well.
A spider web in the clothes cupboard
The toilet seat hasn't been fitted properly so was slightly wonky
Cleaning wasn't consistent - in terms of restocking items in the bathroom and milk etc. Also cleaning schedule was inconsistent - one morning it was cleaned around 10am, the next day we arrived back around 12.30pm and it still hadn't been cleaned.
Also keep in mind that this is a family friendly resort so isn't calm and quiet like an adults only resort, there were lots of kids while we were there which generally wasn't an issue but the pool area for example was a bit noisy with lots of kids splashing around.
The rooms don't have thick walls so you will hear your neighbours - in our case we were woken up by a baby crying several times during the night.
The windows above the beds need to have roll down blinds installed so that you don't get woken up with the light coming in at the crack of dawn and also by the security lights that are on all the time. We saw that our neighbours had put up books against the window to try and block out some of the light - refer to the photo.
Not a lot of organised tours on offer (or if there is, we weren't made aware of it)- we wanted to go to the Castaway island, ended up doing it through the resort next door.

So overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton and will recommend it to others - however, with just a few improvements in terms of what has been detailed above - it will go from being a good resort to an absolutely amazing one!

Room Tip: Go for a beachfront room - beautiful views, you can hear the waves even when you are inside the room...

Just returned from a week at the Sheraton Tokoriki and didn't want to leave the island.
This resort has an amazing beach and lovely soft white sand ,we stayed in a beach front room with our adult children next door nothing like hearing the waves outside your door.
The villas are comfortable but the finishing does let it down a little..
The evening meals was very good but expensive, breakfast and lunch wasn't to bad either.
The staff where pleasant but Paul and Iva where exceptional:)
Great spot with children hence why i'm not to sure if i would go back as it does become noisy..but loved the island so would perhaps try the resort next door which is for 16 and over.
But overall a enjoyable stay!

Room Tip: Choose beach front rooms as they are worth the extra

Just returned from a week at the Sheraton Tokoriki and cannot wait to return. It was pure heaven. This resort has the most amazing views - seriously takes your breath away. The villas are gorgeous and the beds are superb - Reef is stunning, sand is white and water is sapphire gin blue - truly beautiful. I luved the style of the resort with all the wood and crisp white colourings and the staff were faultless - nothing was ever a problem. The restaurant food was beautiful (5 star), Breakfast was so filling that we never needed lunch. If you get tired of the menu you can wander over to the other side to the other resort for a change but we didn't feel the need. Massages were incredible and we hired a jetski and guide to take us to another deserted island for snorkelling. There are another couple of beaches on this island that we visisted and did not see a soul. After reading some of the reviews below we were a little worried but tokoriki did not disappoint . We will be back.
ps snorkelling had been reduced to $15 F , water was supplied free daily, construction was at a minimum and the pantry had opened as an alternative eatery including an icecream & Crepe bar. There is a picture theatre that screens daily and in room movies were free.
Well done to the staff and management of Sheraton Tokoriki

Room Tip: if you can afford it go the beachfront rooms - sensational - however every room is just a step away...

Where do I begin? To tell a story of a seriously sad experience...
Having reviewed plenty of getaways professionally in the past, I would have to rate this expensive resort as rock-bottom.
Save for the pristine location - which the resort has nature to thank for - it lacked in just about everything that you come to expect from 5-star resorts.
We cut our stay short - in time to save a pending birthday celebration and organised our escape to another 5-star resort at Denarau after just three days. Fab time there, but that's another review...
The key problem with the Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island is that it is half-finished. Seriously. It is still being built. Yet (surprise! surprise!) prices don't reflect this.
We were treated to plenty of workers hammering away during our stay. In fact, our room was located perfectly opposite builders working away...every day, all day.
Amenities? Average to poor. Our room was adequate, but not premium. The old adage, 'you get what you pay for,' unfortunately did not ring true...
This is the Sheraton Resort & Spa. So, where is the Spa bit? Doesn't exist. Yet. Best way to describe it is a room with two massage tables.
The children's day care. Doesn't exist. Again, a room. A really small room. We were advised (after our arrival) that the 'real' centre was just about finished...yes, but unfortunately just not in time for our children to benefit.
Fine dining? Try one restaurant with a limited menu on for size. And the menu is the same every day. No room service and no theme nights. A wine list that has about 1/2 the wines actually available. To top it off, the menu is well, yes, expensive...$67 for an eye fillet. Water? $10 a bottle. And the argument that it costs more to transfer food to the island doesn't win here - invariably this cost is readily absorbed in the initial costly room rate.
Service? The Fijians are nice people. They are, no matter where you go in Fiji. But when you are at a 5 star resort you expect more than friendliness. Unfortunately the staff is still in the infant learning stage - so expect wrong wine glasses, menu mix-ups and so on.
And if you fancy a day trip, well, if you're a family of four maybe stay in the pool unless your pockets are lined with gold. A 2.5 hour jet-ski tour to a village community costs around $300. Per person. No discount for kids or families. For a family of four that's...just don't get me started on the fishing trip!

Recently enjoyed a 6-night stay at the Sheraton Tokoriki. We had a beachfront suite at the quiet end of the resort. Bed and bathroom all you'd ask for, and deck provided wonderful ocean views. Flying fish restaurant was a highlight and enjoyed every dish served acroiss the 6-days. Being a relatively remote location means prices are going to be a little higher than the mainland, so if you're on a tight budget, probably should look elsewhere.

Staff were tremendously welcoming and tried extremely hard to please. It was a highlight to spend time chatting with the locally born staff (Mamanucan and mainland). If you demand instantaneous service, you'll be disappointed, but "Fiji time" makes you slow down and chill.

The Spa staff were skilled and you would be hard pressed to find better treatments in the big smoke. Bar staff also warm and always smiling.

The property is new (only opened in April) so still a few small details to iron out, but sure to become a benchmark facility. Suggest you catch the boat out and the helicopter back to get two different perspectives (both great).

All in all a wonderful break and would recommend this resort for a romantic getaway.

Room Tip: Try suites 224, 226 or 228

Have read some of the reviews and am amazed at some of the negative comments .We came here knowing that it was a new resort and there would be some work still to be done. From the moment we landed in the helicopter to tonight We have had a beautiful holiday .We found that if there was any problems the staff were more than happy to help rectify it. Yes the menu is a bit limited but the food is amazing. We had breakfast included and it was well worth it if you didn't want a big lunch they were happy to make up a sandwich or roll in the pantry area . We did go snorkelling and the cost was not as previously said in one of reviews we paid Fifteen dollars Fijian. My husband decided at the last minute to go on a jetski tour and had an amazing time. I cannot put into words how beautiful the staff at this resort are .We did come across some people who weren't happy with a couple of things but I found that if we talked to the staff they would do anything to try and make your stay a positive happy experience. We were suppose to leave last night got to breakfast and decided to try and get our accomodation changed to stay an extra night. It was all done helicopter transfer changed and wasn't a problem. Vinaka to all the staff who made it an exceptional holiday I hope you get a lot more positive feed back .everyone knows hospitality is a hard business to be in but with yor staff I think you've got it right.

Room Tip: When we fist arrived we had booked a ocean view room then changed to a waterfront room with plunge p...
