5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

Our fourth time at Tokoriki (and definitely not our last) was, I think, the best visit yet. (Previous reviews on 5 August 2011 and 9 July 2012). Once again, a marvellous way to spend a week. We noticed some differences post cyclone but still an amazing resort (and much less affected compared to other resorts...a credit to the incredible staff right there!!).

I won't repeat what I have previously written but take it as read and this trip certainly did nothing to negate anything I have previously said: only most defintiely confirmed it yet again. From the moment we stepped off the Chopper until we flew out again we were treated brilliantly.

Food great, seaside dining wonderful, Teppenyaki even better than two years ago (great job Jimmy), and the staff very friendly. A big thank you to Robert and Patrice who go way beyond being "management" but become friends: we so appreciated your hospitality and generosity to us.

Being there in January was different to our usual June/July visits: quite a bit hotter and with the odd bit of rain but not enough to be off putting. A HUGE Vinake Vakelevu to ALL the Tokoriki personnel who did all they could to make this yet another memorable vacation. Seeyou next time.

Room Tip: Do yourself a favour and get a Sunset Pool Villa (SPV). You won't regret it.

BULA!
We have never enjoyed a week as much as we did in this magical resort.

The staff are all so friendly - remembering our names within minutes of our arrival and could not do more for any of us.

The whole resort was perfectly relaxing. The pool, snorkeling, wonderful music, the owners, the staff, our spotless bures, food, wine, cocktails all just divine – thank you Tokoriki !!

We have already made plans to return and this being my 4th time to this wonderfully friendly country; we would now not stay anywhere else….

My husband and I went for 5 nights to Tokoriki - although only being married for 5 weeks, we decided to renew our vows and have an intimate ceremony on the beach.

Every member of staff was amazing - special thanks to Kris in the restaurant, The spa team, Martalika at reception, Ramsey, Joshua, Sami and Numeia who organised our vow renewal and the romantic dinner on the beach.

Numeia - You did a wonderful job, you are always welcome to visit us in Australia. For couples wanting to get married or renew their vows - please contact Numeia. He will make sure your day is perfect.

I would definitely recommend a pool villa and getting a helicopter over to the island.

The staff are what make this resort and we will surely be back (to renew our vows again).

Thank you Tokoriki team.

Room Tip: Rooms 28,29,30 - are great pool villas.

My husband and I here for 6 nights as part of our honeymoon. We arrived 2 weeks after the cyclone and found that a lot of work had been done to clear the debris. The resort was in good condition although the trees had been damaged which likely affected the amount of shade that could be found.

As mentioned in other reviews, the staff at the resort are very friendly and welcoming. We were warmly greeted with a song and a delicious fruit drink. Our bure was clean and spacious and we enjoyed sitting on our porch and swimming in the ocean behind the bure. Using the outdoor shower was also a treat! We appreciated that there was television or phone in our bure. If you need to use the internet, there is free wifi in the main building. We enjoyed the couples message at the beautiful spa. The atmosphere at the spa is very relaxing- you feel as though you're in a lush rainforest! We also tremendously enjoyed the diving and excursions that were offered at the resort. We did two dives to complete our scuba certification and found the dive staff, headed by Will and Alex, to be incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic. We loved diving in the clear waters and hope to return to try new dive spots. We spent part of a day our own beach with a picnic lunch, approximately 20 minutes by boat from the resort. The snorkelling in this area was excellent and it was a great experience! Finally, we also had a wonderful evening at the Japanese restaurant. While it may be different from other tappenyaki experiences, the chef and decor were unique and wonderful!

While there were many positives to our stay, there were also a couple of disappointments. We found the breakfast (either the continental or continental plus choice of a warm entree) to be expensive. It would have been nice to have the option of only the warm entree. In general, it would have been nice to have more variety for lunch and dinner. Three buffet only nights out of six nights was too many. As mentioned in other reviews, we found the service, although friendly, very slow at times. Our drinks were often delayed, or had to be chased down before we were able to enjoy them. We were also disappointed with the limited wine and beer selection.

This was our first visit to Fiji and overall, we had a very relaxing stay at the beautiful resort.

We arrived after the cyclone and our expectations were of a devastated resort but to our surprise the grounds had been cleared and were still beautifiul and well kept. Obviously it will take many months to prune branches off palms and trees but a great amount of effort has already been put in. Within a day of arrival the staff knew our names and addressed us in a friendly way. The resort is small and our sea fronting bure was very well appointed and clean. All staff greet you "bula" every time you bump into them whatever their function is. The resort is kids free which for a couple our age whose kids have left home made for a quiet and relaxing time. It is also scenically beautiful. We had only booked B & B since we had read that there was a choice of restaurants and wanted to try them all out. This was not strictly true since the Japanese one only seated 6 and was fully booked on every night we stayed at the resort. This left either buffet or a la carte and the choice and quality of food was poor for a 5 star resort! The dive shop was well run and the few dives we did were efficiently organised and relaxed. The service in the bar and dining areas is non-existent until you have personally been to the bar and ordered for yourself whereafter you "might" be lucky and relucantly asked if you would like something else when a waiter can be found. There is "no shade" around the pool area and it was very hot during our stay - however there is ample shade and privacy around your room if you want to stay away from the main areas of the resort. In all we had a very relaxing time and were treated well and would have rated all aspects of the resort excellent if a little more attention had been paid to service and food quality.

Room Tip: All the rooms are well appointed but a sea fronting bure is advised.

This resort has it all: beauty, privacy, great food, and a wonderful staff. The staff makes this place unforgettable as they are so friendly and call you by name when they serve you. If you want a peaceful and relaxing vacation away from tv, traffic, hustle and bustle then this is the place for you. This resort is fairly small and geared towards adults who want downtime. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept. All beach bures have privacy from others, plus your own hammock out back with the beach just steps away. The infinity pool is gorgeous and there are no kids splashing around in your space. There are daytime activities that are not strenuous, and the nightime dinner hour is relaxing and made more entertaining by the strolling musicians who can sing and play anything you request. So glad this place was recommended to us!

Tokoriki Island Resort has got to be one of the most amazing places in the world. We went there in December on our honeymoon, and three weeks later we are still missing our paradise home and wishing we were still there.
Firstly, arriving by helicopter was an amazing experience and highly recommended to do. We were then greeted by Ramsey (absolute legend!) and greeted by name, beautiful refreshing drink and welcome song. What a great start.
Definitely recommend getting a Sunset Pool Villa if you can afford the extra $$. They are amazing and it was really nice sitting in our private plunge pool drinking and watching the sunset. The rooms are immaculate and just perfect. We loved the design of them and the wooden beams and doors are beautiful and the bed was extremely comfy with a beautiful view to the beach to wake up to every morning. Amazing!
The outdoor shower was just lovely (except the toad that took up residence on a lilypad in the little pool thing next to it haha) we only showered inside once after cyclone Evan as we couldn't shower outside..
so onto the cyclone. If you were to be in Fiji during a cyclone, then this resort is definitely the place you would want to be. We have heard of extreme damages and closures of other resorts we were looking at staying, but this one held up extremely well. Not only did the staff put us at ease and make us feel comfortable, but they did it with smiles on their faces the whole time. They actually made the cyclone a bit fun and exciting! And we felt safe and it was great bonding with the other guests during this time. During the eye of the cyclone, they did not take long to clear paths of fallen trees and plants so that we could go back to our rooms easily. They were super quick to clean up the place with all us guests back by the pool drinking cocktails the next day!!!
The food was amazing, the drinks are delicious, activities very good and interesting. Main pool and area are just so lovely and it was nice spending time there as well as in our own bure.
The island hopping tour was lots of fun with snorkelling which was just unreal, the village tour also very good, and you get to do a bit of shopping from the locals there so take some $$
The deserted island picnic is definitely recommended, it was amazing to spend a few hours just us on a beach with not another soul anywhere nearby it was breathtakingly beautiful the island they dropped us off to. Also, definitely do the private beach dining as well, but make sure you don't have sunstroke beforehand or you won't enjoy the food as much and the crabs may end up with a serving of lobster which is what happened with us.
Getting serenaded every night was just fantastic - ask for the animal song, where you have to make animal noises - Moses doing donkey noises haha so funny.
I could seriously talk about Tokoriki all day long, i loved it so much, we are hoping to revisit for our one year anniversary.
Bula to all the staff we miss you! Hope to see you soon

Room Tip: Definitely a Sunset Pool Villa
