“Schoolies 2014”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I came to plantation island for week 1 Schoolies. It was amazing! I want go into the 'Schoolies' details, but the resort itself was beautiful. With a few choices of pools, and the beautiful blue crystal clear waters surrounding, there is always something to do!
The buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner was great. The rooms, a little outdated, but if you are in your room that much to have a problem with it, you probably shouldn't be on the island.
A little tip for anyone going, to hire a set of snorkels from the resort (free of charge) and swim out to the pontoon (not the one in front of the restaurant, keep walking up the beach to the second one), there are so many beautiful fish at the little reef there!
Oh and try the toasties at the little place near the general store! You wont be disappointed!

Keeping in mind this resort is basically self sufficient. The food, drinks and staff are all local. So if you want a slave holiday this is not the place for you. My family and I had an absolutely awesome time whilst on PIR. We flew on via Sea plane and got the royal treatment from get go. Our room wasn't quite ready but we enjoyed time looking around while waiting which wasn't a problem. The food, well all I can say was it was magnificent. We enjoyed their local cuisine rather than good we can readily get in Australia. The staff were as friendly as you will find anywhere in the world. We met, joked and laughed with numerous staff members exchanging funny stories and experiences. The kids club and Lairo club staff were fantastic with the kids and teens. Grabbing anyone and everyone to join in the fun and games. Or even just a sour of the moment beach game of soccer, cricket or volleyball.
As my partner and I are photographers, one of the staff offered us a personal tour for a sunset photo shoot. That was on his own time.
To some it up, firdt time here but definitely not the last.
To the management and staff of
PIR vinaka vakalevu!!

We have been here twice for short (1 week) Family holidays, its easy from NZ, very relaxing, lots of stuff for the kids to do and plenty of activities that can be booked. We had a beach front room that was a perfect location as close to everything. The only things to watch are that some of the garden rooms have a fair walk to anywhere, and the pool side rooms can be a bit noisy during the day (as you would expect). From here there are other resorts where you can go for dinner, however you just need to remember than your on an island and you dont go to Fiji for the food, even though i must admit the food on this trip had improved from previous Fiji trips.
If your looking for a holiday with kids where you come home feeling like you have actually had one and relaxed, with ease of travel from NZ then these fiji islands are hard to beat.

Room Tip: watch for garden rooms that have lots of walking to get to, especially if you have small children as...

This place is beautiful!
What you see in photos is what you get! Which isn't common with a lot of places in Fiji..
Good Buffett breakfast and dinner. Only down fall was no one telling us there was no cash on the island, everything had to be billed to room you couldn't pay as you go or with cash at all! And Don't buy any souvenirs on the island its very expensive compared to Denarau!
Staff all tell you different things, very hard to find out information!
But very relaxing and beautiful place.
One time thing, much more beautiful places to see also !

My first time to Fiji and Plantation was recommended to us. The ferry ride was about 40 minutes aboard a big modern Cat and gave a great view of the island. Will always remember the boat backing into the dock and the welcoming committee singing and playing to us as we came ashore.
We had booked into the Hotel Room with a view of the sea. The rooms are adequate. Neat and clean and tidy and the decor was 'island themed'. Its not a 5 star resort but it is lovely.
We had a little problem with our room. There was a big function planned for later in the week so we had about a dozen workmen outside our room setting up a stage and bars. We couldn't see the sea and didn't like too sit outside with everyone working right next to us.
So as much as we hate complaining we went to Reception and explained what was happening. The were very apologetic and asked us to give them a bit of time to clean another room. A couple of hours later they came and fetched us and upgraded us to one of their 2 bedroom ocean side Bure's! Needless to say we were HAPPY!! Very impressed with how they sorted out our problem.
We were there for 2 nights only but the hospitality and food are great. I'm a vegetarian so the choices were limited but there was still plenty to choose from and it was all delicious.
The buffet breakfast is okay, excellent if your feeding kids!
You can buy a food plan for all 3 meals but there are enough places to buy snacks and drinks and pizzas etc and just charge back to your room.

We had dinner the first night at Lomani Resort which is next door and dinner the next night at Anandas which is also nice.
Kayaks, Hobie Cats etc are all free but really when its that hot sitting in the pool with a drink or lying in your hammock under a palm tree next to the ocean is the only way to go.
There's NO TV but you did good signal on your smartphone for keeping in touch with the rest of the world. There is also a BIG air con unit in the master bedroom.

Really enjoyed sitting in the ocean and having all the fish swim around you.
If your feeling energetic take a walk to the Island Bar which is next to Musket Cove. You can take some great photos of Plantation Resort from there.

Room Tip: Beachside Bure. They're away from the hustle and bustle and have their own hammocks on the edge...
