“A Little Bit of Paradise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

This place was fantastic. I went with 10 other people, volunteers from Europe and Australia, and we were all so surprised by the beauty of this magnificent Island.

We arrived at 6pm on Friday and left late Sunday afternoon. We paid $207 FJD each for boat transfers, accommodation, and three meals a day. The value for money was extraordinary considering all that is on this tiny Island is a small resort consisting of dorms and bures.

I stayed with the others in the Girls Dorm which was filled with other volunteer groups from Suva. 20 in total. The beds were comfortable and clean. I didn't feel hot at all because the breeze at night cooled the dorms down. This is my first time staying in a dorm but I wouldn't stay in any other accommodation here, unless you are a couple, because you have to use the shared bathroom facilities anyway. You wouldn't want to spend time in your room because it is just paradise outside.

The beach is beautiful, white sand, palm trees and crystal clear still water. You can snorkel, paddle boat, kayak around the island. The snorkelling is great if you swim out about 100 metres from the beach. So many different coloured fish and coral. The Sunset is unbelievable and absolutely stunning.

Two minor complaints that I did have was that there was no desert and sometimes the dinners needed to be a little bigger. If you asked they were happy to give you seconds if there was any left. The other complaint was the showers. They had no water pressure, were cold and no closed doors. Even though they are private it is easy for someone, anyone, to walk in on you while bathing.

I was amazed at the absolute beauty of this place. All you want to do is soak in the sun. When you leave you will feel so relaxed. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family.

Room Tip: No need to stay in a bure. The dorms are cheaper and adequate.

Very nice little Island, but I would have liked private bathroom, the shared one was fun, but as we arrived during a storm all I really wanted was a hot shower, but a quick cold one had to do.....The food was great the staff excellent, well worth a visit for a day or two.

Room Tip: Ask if the roof leaks before you unpack.

We were looking for a weekend away and the recently upgraded Leleuvia resort had been highly recommended by friends. It was easy to get to from Suva, 40-50 min drive to Bau Landing (where we were shown a safe spot to leave our car) then a 45min boat ride.
We were greeted onto the island by lots of smiling faces and shown to our bure, about 3 metres from the sea. It was incredibly crafted out of logs and was a very good size, nice and clean.
There was plenty to do, we had a walk around the island, around 15 minutes, then used one of their canoes and paddled round it. We walked/snorkeled out to a sandbank and later we snorkeled in a deeper part of the sea which had some great coral and fish.
There's a beautiful bar area for the evenings, it's a huge log structure with a tree growing inside!
We had a brilliant time and will certainly be heading back again soon.

This is a gorgeous little island easy to travel to from Suva via boat from Bau's Landing. The island is small and has little bures right of the beach. The beach is really sandy and perfect for the kids to swim in. The bures are right on the beach and our family of 5 was easily accommodated in one bure. The only down side is a communcal bathroom - which is a small inconvenience if the kids need the bathroom in the night. The kids loved it here. They could wander around and do their own thing. The snorkeling is fantastic - coral in great shape and lots of tropical fish - not fished out like some other areas we have been to. The little white cat is still there and is a bonus for kids to play with. Despite the simplicity of the island - they do have a jet ski. The kids went jet skiing for a very reasonable price. The other big bonus was the bird life which for a tiny island was prolific and we also saw two beautiful coral snakes! Lovely place to go for a few days with the kids - we wish them well.

We wanted a holiday spot that was easy to travel to from busy Suva City. Less then an hour we reached our little Paradise. Leleuvia is speckled with a gorgeous beach that spills into warm blue-green waters. It’s an ideal escape for those who love being in the water and the tranquility on the beach. The very basic rooms are more then good enough to sleep in. Wooden floors cover with sand, comfy mattress and a cool breeze every night. When your on an Island as beautiful you would prefer to be sleeping out on the beach enjoying every moment the island has to give you. There are shared bathrooms and toilets that were super clean. Main dinning area has free Wi-Fi for those who can't keep off Facebook or to catch up with what’s happening in the office. Fresh baked buns or Fijian Pan Cakes (babakau), local fruits, and freshly brewed coffee for breakfast, wraps and sandwich for lunch was our favorite not forgetting the delicious Lovo with a pig on a spit and the NY Eve spread of Sushi, Prawns, Sashimi and rolled corned beef. Only thing I regret was not taking a fishing rod.

Room Tip: Get a room closer to the bathrooms if you have kids.

It's a pretty island, bures very comfortable, food fine. There's a little white cat there who is on her own and staff won't offer her any leftovers, yet she could be a bonus in terms of making the island a nicer place, she was brought over and left by someone, the way animals abandoned in Fiji is very distressing and lack of humanity equally distressing.
We had party central in the bure next to us which made sleep hard.

Vinaka Rosemary for your valuable feedback on Leleuvia. Further to our recent e-mails, we have taken your advise and "Whitey" the cat has responded well to regular feeding by the staff even when I am off island. I apologise for the noise from the other inconsiderate guests but hope you will visit us again soon outside of the festive season.
