“Magical Anniversary Get-A-Way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

After 14 years of marriage it sometimes becomes hard to find "things" to put a little spice back in the romance, but LFH was just what we both needed. LFH is a magical place. When we left after our 2 night stay, we both felt peaceful, relaxed, and reconnected which we both needed. After check-in and a short tour of the home, Betty left me and my husband to explore and do as we pleased. We never felt rushed or intruded on, as we always have in hotels. We were able to reconnect in our own private ways and enjoy all of the amenities that were provided while we were there. The sleep number bed was amazing and the tub was refreshing after a mini-shopping outing. We were able to relax in the beautiful pool and then enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the extra large hot tub while enjoying the landscape and wildlife on the property. Each morning at breakfast, we were amazed at the delicious food and also enjoyed the wonderful stories and history of the B&B and also the town of Rogersville. If was especially nice to sit in the common area and look at the photo books of Bill and Betty's daughter and son.

If you are fortunate enough to get a GERMAN CHOCOLATE CUPCAKE as part of your welcome package, make sure you sit and savor every last bit. I honestly thought I was in HEAVEN!

Room Tip: Sunshine Dreams always made me fill light and airy when I walked into the room with the beautiful su...

My wife and I spent a wonderful night at LFH. The house and surrounding grounds were very peaceful and relaxing -- it's the ideal place to just get away from it all. We enjoyed a nice walk in the sizable woods and fields around this house. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Betty and Bill shared some funny and interesting stories with us. They've got a wealth of knowledge about the area and it's history. We would definitely recommend LFH.

Room Tip: "Sunshine Daydreams" was great.

This bed and breakfast place was such a pleasant experience! The owners definitely have a gift for hospitality. The house was large and well cared for. The property is located in a peaceful, rural area with a beautiful walking trail. The rooms were so comfortable and the extra touches provided by the hosts were above and beyond the ordinary. We will definitely have a return visit.

Room Tip: Sunshine daydreams is the best choice.

This was our first experience at a B&B and at first we didn't know what to expect but Bill & Betty did all they could to make our stay pleasant. The room was very nice and there were delicious cupcakes waiting on a tray in our room. We enjoyed the hot tub at night and felt very welcomed into their place. The breakfast was phenomenal, three courses of delightful foods all creatively prepared by Betty. The stories by Bill were very entertaining and they were both very helpful in planning activities in the area during our stay. We very much enjoyed our stay here and if you are trying to get away from the everyday schedule and just enjoy some time together as a family, I definitely recommend their B&B.

We just got back from longing for home yesterday, and had a great time. We celebrated a Baby Moon and Bill and Betty did not dissapoint. We got in late Friday, and woke up to the breakfast bell the next day. Breakfast made for me is great any time, but a 3 course gourme breakfast that Betty makes is even better. Bill's wit and humor blend with Bettys, and together they make a spectacular B&B hosts, with lots of fun to be had.

I'd recommend this location for small families, and couples looking to relax for the weekend. We stayed in the Sunshine dreams home, which featured the select comfort bed, balcony, and whirlpool tub. The only downside is now the association I have with chicken (thanks Bill). You have to ask him to find out!

We had rescheduled this weekend getaway due to winter flu, so we finally made it just as Springtime arrived in Rogersville. The B&B was easy to find and we had a warm welcome, despite arriving later than planned. The owners, Betty and Bill, were delightful and made us feel at home immediately. We'd bought the LivingSocial deal, which gave us 2 nights with 3-course breakfasts, roses, cupcakes and sparkling cider, as well as souvenir mugs to take home. But the real thrill was seeing the beautifully kept house, romantic rooms with great tubs and the expansive grounds, with pretty gazebo and Grecian patio areas, pool and hot tub.

Rogersville is a small town in NW Alabama and Longing for Home is the only B&B there. All the local store owners and restaurants knew Bill and Betty by name and welcomed us as their guests. We were looking for an outdoor getaway and brought our mountain bikes, so we loved exploring the local area and Joe Wheeler State Park. Coming back to the B&B and taking a soak in the claw-footed freestanding tub soothed away the aches and pains.

I need to give full focus for a moment, to the hospitality and service of the Maloneys. Bill is a well-educated, fascinating and funny host. Betty is a brilliant cook, a self-taught specialist in Southern food (even though not originally from around here!), and should be famous for her cheese grits, biscuits with chocolate gravy and breakfast casserole. Together they offer the very best in hospitality, genuine and sincere service, great advice and local stories, history and recommendations. No wonder they are highly recognized for their service with highest ratings.

We suffered car trouble on our departure day, but this was a blessing as it gave us a reason to stay an extra night. Betty and Bill made sure we had everything we needed during the unexpected extension to our weekend, and it was hard to see it as a bad thing that we couldn't get towed until the Monday. We spent the extra day exploring the grounds and enjoying the first spring day in the beautiful Tennessee Valley.

We recommend the Country Graces room for the sleep-number bed, romantic chandelier and window reading seats, and - of course - the huge free-standing tub. We recommend Longing for Home as the ideal spot for a relaxing, restful, romantic, perfect weekend.

Room Tip: Country Graces, for the romance of a chandelier and huge in-room tub.

We really enjoyed our stay at Longing for Home. Betty and Bill were very, very experienced hosts and were very professional. The best part of our stay was hearing about the history of the South, the jacuzzi outside, the snacks and drinks available to us free of charge, and the very large and spacious bathroom in our bedroom. We felt very safe and comfortable in their home as well. One of the regrets we had was not having brought our own pillows. The ones provided had no support whatsoever and we had a really tough time sleeping because of that. We would have liked for our hosts to have tidied up our rooms, left new towels and restocked toilet paper each day. The hosts provided a 3-course meal, which was pretty good. We both would have preferred a buffet style breakfast, which would have allowed us to choose what we wanted to eat and to go back for more if we wanted. For us, this was kind of a big deal because at the other B&B's we have stayed at, there has always been an abundance of food to choose from and we were always given the freedom to select what we wanted. For the price we paid, we felt that the breakfast could have been better. That being said, the overall experience was very, very good. Bill and Betty did a great job of suggesting tourist attractions and local restaurants. They are a delightful couple and are very, very sweet.

Room Tip: The best room is the one we stayed in. It is the most expensive option and is quite amazing. The bat...
