We're in the midst of a recession and all the other hotels in this one-horse-town, Alabama would rather have empty rooms and keep charging ridiculously high rates to stay mid-week.

We actually found this hotel by accident, as my car's GPS thought this was the location for the Sleep Inn. Anyway, I've travelled for over 20 years, and have stayed in hundreds of locations across the US. Days Inn can be hit or miss--this location is new, clean, and everything works. The room is on par with Fairfield Marriot/Holiday Inn/Hilton Garden etc, for a far lower price.

Remember to call 1-800 DaysInn as I got a $10 lower price calling from the parking lot than by walking in and talking to the desk clerk.

The hotel has some severe management & employee issues!!! We made our reservations through the Wyndham rewards/1-800 number -- for a 1 night stay. Upon arriving at the hotel, our reservations were "messed up", and the desk clerk's "solution" was to charge us more for a room than we had made with the reservations office. We had a meeting to attend that evening in town, so were forced to take the higher rated room. The hotel staff were VERY unprofessional, and guest safety was not high on their priority list!!! The guest clerk handed us our hotel key, loudly announced our assigned room number, (there were other people waiting in the lobby!) and proceeded to give SPECIFIC directions to our room. NOT SMART!!!!!! The ice machine was out of order on our floor, the vending machines were out of snacks, and the AM we left - the one and only elevator was BEING SERVICED!!. We had to carry our luggage down 2 flights of stairs - and there were no apologies from the hotel staff/mgt. We will NEVER stay at this location again, and will advise NO ONE to!! After returning home and receiving our credit card statement, this hotel charged us TWICE for a 1 night stay!! After calling and leaving NUMEROUS messages for the MGR/OWNER to return my call - the owner called me back and said the hotel is a franchise - and he does NOT plan to return any money, as the reservations were made through the 1-800 number and not the hotel directly!! He was very unhelpful and rude!! We now have filed a case with Days Inn Hotel chain, and are attempting to get our money returned and the amount corrected!! So far - no luck!! The hotel owner is not American..........and the hotel and his attitude reflects CHEAPNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our advice- stay at the Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn - don't waste your time and money here!!!!!

Back in July I booked 4 rooms for 8 golfers during the first week of October. As 4 of us were arriving a day early, I was given a confirmation number for our stay (3 nights- 2 rooms) and a second confirmation number for the rest of my party (2 nights- 2 rooms). All went well until the remainder of my guests arrived. I was told that they had no record of the second reservation! I was told that the number I gave them was not valid and actually for the second ROOM on my original reservation! Worst of all, the clerk had the audacity to tell me that it was not the fault of the hotel! Further, that the hotel was booked up except for the last 2 rooms (King Suites?) which if booked would cost more!

After 30 minutes of 4 travelers, luggage in hand, standing around the Lobby observing the the dilemma, we had little choice but to book the smoking rooms, as the clerk had subsequently tried to contact other hotels (oh yes at higher rates!) but to no avail.

It is quite clear that this hotel has some serious management and/or process issues. As a long time business traveler, I can say that this has never occurred! I am just greatful that the trip was a pleasure trip because I cannot imagine a group of clients standing around the lobby observing a fiasco such as this.

There is nothing "hospitable" about this hotel and the coffee at the breakfast area is unfit to drink, as it amounts to little more than slightly flavored water. Stay here at your on risk!

This hotel is exactly what an inexpensive hotel is suppose to be like. The rooms were clean and quite. The beds were comfortable; shower was clean and appeared to be pretty new - with good water pressure. The free breakfast was above average, and included good variety (Waffle maker, Bagels, Donuts/Muffins, Biscuits, Yogurt, etc.)

If anyone is looking for a hotel near the Capitol Hill Golf courses, you are less than 1 mile away. Several Restaurants are within walking distance, and at least a dozen within a 1 mile drive.

Hotel staff was acceptable, and check in/out process simple and straightforward. Only negative was the curtains did not block out as much light as a person would hope, so might be tough to sleep late. Hotel was prepaid, but staff was a tiny bit confused and asked about charges at checkout - but no big deal as they realized hotel was prepaid in full
