“Very clean, friendly staff, pet friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

As budget hotels go, La Quinta is usually quite nice. This particular property was very nice. Fairly new facility, grounds were well kept and the staff was very friendly. All La Quintas are pet friendly which makes it quite convenient to travel. Complimentary breakfast was the usual, waffles, yogurt, fruit, pastries etc. I will defintiely stay here again when in the area.

I have stayed at this facility a number of times and have always found it to be pleasant. The employees are always helpful, the rooms clean and the breakfast very good. I like the fact that it's far enough outside Montgomery that I don't have to fight traffic when coming through on my way to Florida. Another plus is the very good car wash under the overpass. Traveling South from the North during the winter can play havoc with the car and it's nice to know that you can get a good car wash at the end of a long day.

Room Tip: Because I travel with dogs, I'm always on the first floor, but I feel any of their rooms is cond...

The staff is always nice. We stay here everytime when traveling through Montgomery. 1 exit away from shopping and restaurants in Prattville. Pet friendly at no additional cost with nice exercise area. Free parking and wireless internet.

We were traveling from Texas to North Carolina for the holidays with our 50lb. dog, so we made a reservation at this La Quinta Inn & Suites, opting for this location over the Montgomery "truck stop" location, since the reviews were better. This was not our first stay at a La Quinta Inn & Suites, but it was our first stay at this location. I have given it a ranking of "Poor" instead of "Terrible" mainly just out of the kindness of my heart. We did not arrive at the hotel until until 8:30pm and were tired and hungry from nearly 14 hours on the road that day. Check-in was smooth and upon initial inspection, the room appeared clean enough. The hotel did not have a convenient listing of area restaurants like you might find in other hotels and at other La Quinta's even. We were desperate for food so a search on Google Maps on my cell phone indicated a nearby Papa Johns pizza. We called to verify that they would deliver to us at the hotel and the would, hooray! However, that's where any positive points of our stay ended.

While we were waiting for the pizza to arrive, we started to settle into our room on the third floor and discovered some issues. First, the bathroom. Initially, it looked satisfactorily clean. No hair in the tub or glaring stains, but then I saw something moving on the ground. An ant. Then another and another and another. That's when I noticed the bathroom counter, as well as the floor, was crawling with them! There were even dead ants scattered along the walls, counter and floor, obvious victims from the cleaning chemicals. I wasn't sure whether to take solace in this or to be more concerned that there is obviously an ongoing issue that the hotel has chosen to ignore rather than properly address.

The second disturbing find came when our 50lb lab-mix dog discovered some "fun" scents on the bed skirt and under the bed, at which point we noticed the stains. Eww! By this time it was already nearing 11pm and with an early morning and another long day of driving ahead of us, we unfortunately opted to remain in the room.

The third and final straw in our stay at this hotel was found at the free continental breakfast. I should first mention that the counter in breakfast area has been replaced with a slab of wood-chip board, but more alarming, was that it too was crawling with ants! The same ants from our bathroom up on the third floor of the hotel! The entire hotel is clearly infested with these pests, which cannot be killed off with a pest-control variety spray. This type of colonizing ant requires poisoned food be carried back to the nest by the worker ants, which will take a good deal of time to eradicate.

Needless to say, when making this drive to visit family in NC again, we will not be stopping here. I'd rather drive straight through than stay here again.

I booked this hotel through La Quinta Rewards and used points for the reservation. We travel with 2 small dogs and appreciate that La Quinta allows pets and that there is no additional charge for the pets. Our reservation was all ready for us upon arrival and the front desk staff was very friendly and polite. Our room was very nice, good size, nice new flat screen TV although no HD programming. Nice bathroom with plenty of hot water. We always book a room with a mini fridge and microwave since we pack food for the dogs as well as drinks and snacks for ourselves in coolers. Unfortunately our mini fridge was not working so we had to keep adding ice to our coolers to keep things cold. The bed was very comfortable and since I was nursing a major toothache I appreciated lots of pillows to stack up to keep my head up. Hallways were very quiet but there was some highway noise from the nearby interstate. Lots of area around the hotel to walk the dogs with good lighting at night. Breakfast was simple but good. Good coffee which is always important. Interesting situation arose when it came time to pack up and leave. We were on the 3rd floor and when I went to get the luggage cart I couldn't get the elevator up to the 3rd floor. I walked down the stairs to the lobby to get the cart and then couldn't get the elevator to the main floor. Turns out the elevator was malfunctioning and people were stuck on it. Not good. The front desk staff and another staff or manager tried to get things working and eventually did get the people out. We chose to carry our luggage out without using the elevator which meant a few trips up and down the 3 flights of stairs. By the time we checked out the elevator repair man was there so management did deal with the problem promptly. We would stay here again but might be a little cautious of the elevator.

Room Tip: It would be nice when traveling with pets to be on the ground floor.

Our first but definitely not our last stay at La Quinta. Very dog friendly facility and we so enjoyed a first rate breakfast...sent us happily on our way to Gulf Shores AL to start the New Year! I would recommend this location and La Quinta to anyone traveling particularly with their canine friends.

We paid
79.00 a night. We were also able to bring our 4 legged friend. You have to be careful traveling with your pet because most of the time the pet friendly hotels r a dump. This was very, very clean. Loved it!!!! I will definitely stay again.
