“Stranded Females”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

My friends and I were traveling home from a beach trip when our car's transmission failed and we were stranded at 6:00PM Sunday night, nothing open, no help, and four scared females were rescued by the wonderful staff at Marriott Prattville at Capitol Hill. Being a member of RSA we were given a wonderful discount and the management sent a van to our stranded location. Charlie Mills, executive chef, took all our luggage, beach equipment, coolers, bags, etc. with such a helpful manner that we at once felt saved. He took us directly to the Marriott, Charlie, Mark Budzik, and Patrick Rodgers unloaded EVERYTHING into our room, arranged for us to have fresh coffee, laughed with us, sympathized with us, and made a horrible situation bearable. Charlie even came by the next morning to make sure our rental car had arrived so we could go home. We have never felt more welcome and safe at any other time in our lives. Thank you so much Charlie, Mark, and Patrick. Thank you Marriott Prattville for having such wonderful staff and a wonderful place. We will return for another trip to enjoy the beautiful golf course, inviting pool, and of course some of Charlie's homemade delights.

We chose this hotel for its proximity to the Capitol Hill golf course complex. It is also located close to a large shopping complex and several restaurants. The staff was friendly and responsive, the rooms large , clean and well appointed (included a refrigerator). The bed was comfortable, price reasonable. With that said, avoid the restaurant -- overpriced for mediocre food and inattentive service.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back face the golf course; those on the front have a parking lot view. Given the locati...

We were pleasantly surprised by the Prattville Marriott. It was an oasis in a seemingly busy area. It is a BIT hard to find, so be aware of the map placement to make sure you get there. The whole place is understated and lovely and gives priority to the wonderful views of a beautiful golf course. Friendly, comfortable and pretty bar/lounge area, VERY good food, a good breakfast and the MOST SPACIOUS rooms greeted us. The bathroom was very large with two sinks and large granite counter area, giving couples/families plenty of room. They also have the softest towels we've ever encountered in any hotel. The ONLY drawbacks were 1) We wanted to stay longer and 2) the entry area is a bit small and cars tried to pull in from both directions, when there was only room for one-way traffic. Perhaps a sign to denote the correct entry direction would avoid that moment of chaos? Other than that, we found the hotel to be wonderful and one we want to return to again.

Room Tip: You just can't go wrong with any choice here. It is quiet, lovely, enjoyable. The rooms are sp...

We recently held a family gathering @ "The Legends" and can't say enough about the sales staff there. They did a fantastic job and made sure everything was just right. We hold these gatherings every year and this was the first time we held it locally. Everyone was pleased with the rooms, food and service. We have already started planning next years and are already in contact with the sales staff to help us plan. The golf course being so close and the pool gave everyone something to do, plus it is clost to shops and restaurants.

We really liked the lodge-look exterior and lobby area of this property…very pretty. When we walked into our room after checking in, I loved it! I felt this place would definitely rate a "5." It had a nice clean smell…no cover-up deodorizer scent. The room was larger than an average hotel room. We were in room 318, which I can definitely recommend (except for the problem I will address later). Not sure if all rooms are this large, since the emergency floorplan on the inside of our room door showed many rooms that appeared to be smaller than ours was. Our room did have a small sitting area, so maybe it was considered a suite, although I wouldn't call it that. We had a balcony with a great view of the golf course. Our room and the entire facility were spotlessly clean. The decor in our room was fresh and tasteful. There was a small frig and a coffee maker with bottles of water provided. The walk-in shower (with a huge showerhead) and the toilet were in a separate room. The sink and closet were outside of the shower room, but still separated from the rest of the room. All of the usual complementary toiletries were provided, along with a hair dryer. Overall, I was elated with the room…until we went to bed. That’s when the rating dropped from a “5” to a “4.” We were so disappointed…the bed was just not very comfortable. There was a lot of motion transfer…everytime one of us moved, the other moved too. The mattress felt a little lumpy. I’m not sure if it was actually the mattress that was lumpy or the mattress pad…I didn’t check. And the sheets were too small…I think they must have used queen-size sheets instead of king. The top sheet came just to the very top edge of the mattress. You can imagine what happens when you get two adults under it. And the fitted sheet was too small to fit completely over the mattress. The next morning, I stopped at the front desk and asked the clerk to have housekeeping put larger sheets on our bed. I told him the sheets were too small, and it had been uncomfortable for us. He said he would, but it was the exact same thing the next night. The breakfast buffet in the Oak Tavern was good. There was an omelet and waffle station, but otherwise, the buffet included just the standard breakfast buffet items. I had read about the great Sunday brunch so we went back to the Oak Tavern Sunday morning expecting something wonderful, but it was the exact same buffet as Saturday morning. Perhaps the brunch was in a different location that we didn’t know about. We didn’t eat lunch or dinner in the Oak Tavern. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the fitness room. The pool and other outdoor facilities were closed for the winter. We didn’t encounter any problems at all with the single elevator being insufficient for the size of the hotel. Only once was there even anyone else on the elevator with us. Overall, we loved this facility. I’m just surprised and disappointed that a Marriott would cut corners on the bed and bedding, because what could be more important when staying overnight somewhere than the bed?

I try and stay at the Marrriott in Prrattville whenever possible. The rates are a little higher than surrounding properties, but it is a full service hotel. The rooms are clean and come with standard Marriott bath products. The TV channels are slow to change and that can be frustrating.
The restaurant and bar are always good.
Bar - Cold beer with a bartender who doesn't mind trying new mixes when requested.
Dinner was very good for the price.
Breakfast - usually they serve a breakfast bar with an omelet station. This time they did not offer the buffet. I had a voucher for the buffet but they let me order anything off the breakfast menu, which was nice.
There are many, many restaurant opportunities within 5 miles of the hotel. And if golf is your thing, a world class course is right out the back door.

Room Tip: Some rooms have balconies facing the golf course.

This hotel is located in a serene area next to a championship golf course in Prattville, AL. It's really hidden from the main road, and was rather difficult to find [at night], but once we arrived, we were provided excellent service from the guys at the desk.

The room was spacious and was neatly organized. It was listed as a suite, but it's not. The room was a typical hotel room with a shower, facilities and a connector room with the sink and mirror. Although the room met our needs, I was disappointed that the room wasn't a "suite".

Secondly, they offered high-speed internet access, but they wanted me to pay an additional cost for their "upgraded" speed. This is also a disappointment. Most hotels we stay at provide fast, high-speed bandwith for no additional cost.

Thirdly, this is a fairly large hotel, but they have only a single elevator to handle 3 floors. Wow. This is not good. Especially during the mornings when guests are checking out.

And finally, they wanted to charge extra for breakfast. They did not provide a continental breakfast. Another disappointment.

Would I stay there again? Probably, if it became necessary, but I'm not thrilled about the four areas of concern.

Room Tip: Stay on the top floor to avoid the noise
