We stayed at this hotel for the first weekend in Sept. The location is Perfect! Directly on Orange Beach. The view from our room looked right out on the beach! They have a pool that's half outdoors & half indoor & two jacuzzi's one indoor & one outdoor. The rooms are nicely furnished with updated beds & bedding. Micro/Fridge in room. The only complaints we had weere that the bathrooms could use some updating. They're a bit small for as nice of a room as it is. Also there's not a free breakfast. There is however a cafe that serves breakfast. They offer a buffet that is good but costs $10 a person. I'd recommend ordering single items off of the menu if you're not going to eat a lot...ends up being a lot cheaper. You can get a HUGE Omlet for $5! Overall though a GREAT Place to stay...can't really be disappointed staying on the beach!!

This hotel is way overpriced for what you get. The bathroom is so small that there is less than one inch clearance for the door and the toilet. When we got to the room 2 lights did not work and the ironing board was in pieces. We had to wait awhile, but they did repair one of the lights and give us a new ironing board.
Don't expect an indoor pool if it rains, three children fill it up. There is only about 20 chairs around the pool for guests so be prepared to stay on the beach. I will say that the beach is nice, but too many jellyfish in the water. Kids actually spend all their time trying to catch all the jellyfish to get rid of them.
We will not being staying here again for the price we paid. We are Destin bound.

“Who needs a condo?”

Hilton Garden Inn Orange Beach Beachfront

Longview, Texas

This was our first trip to the Orange Beach area and the lodging choices are overwhelming. I had a hard time deciding on a condo, especially at the last minute, so I booked this HGI on the beach. Initially, I worried a bit about not having the extra room that a condo would provide, but have to say that we never missed it.

The four of us shared a room on the 6th (top) floor overlooking the pool and with a side view of the beach and Gulf. We had plenty of room for a rollaway bed too and that worked out wonderfully (for $10/nt). Some nights, we didn't use the rollaway but still found it useful to spread out on. Our room was very quiet on the top floor and the queen beds were comfortable.
Each room had it's own balcony with 2 lawn chairs and a small end table. The balcony was great for drying beach towels and even for watching a storm blow by one night.
The room had a small fridge for some drinks and leftovers from restaurants. We also kept a cooler in the room.
Breakfast is not normally included with the room, but we purchased the bed and breakfast option online and it made for a very reasonable and nice breakfast each morning downstairs ($20 for the 4 of us). A couple of days into the trip we discovered that they also had to-go boxes available and some days we fixed breakfast trays to take back to the room. That was helpful for those mornings when we were slow to get up and about! It was vacation after all. They had a very nice breakfast selection of both made to order items and grab and go items.
All the staff that we encountered at the hotel was friendly and helpful. They happily provided everything we needed - restaurant recommendations (in fact, they have a book full of pictures and menus you can browse through in the lobby), directions, hot cocoa packets, flashlights in the evenings for crab hunting, and towels for the pool (I'd recommend bringing your own beach towels though).
The indoor/outdoor pool (and 2 hot tubs) were large and well kept with lots of lounge chairs and a couple of tables. They even supplied rafts and noodle floats for shared use. There is also a tiki bar adjacent to the outside pool (where I am sure the bartender will ask each and every guest for their ID each and every time they order a drink - he did during our stay).
The boardwalk is just a few steps beyond the bar and the outdoor shower and pools and then you are on the beautiful beach.
There is plenty of room to set up your own chairs, umbrellas, etc and use them, but it was so much nicer to rent a chair for a few days and have the beach service take care of you. The only flaw to that is that they pack up the umbrellas and cushions at 5PM. It would be nice if they had longer hours, at least during the peak season - maybe 7PM. In any case, they are not affiliated with the hotel, so the choice is yours.
This hotel was terrific, very comfortable, clean and relaxing. Most of the other guests were families too. We never regretted staying there instead of at a condo.
We booked online (hilton website) and the rate was approx $200/nt. + $20 for breakfasts.

Hilton Garden Inn is a clean convenient place to stay on Orange Beach. It is a bit pricey with few amenities, so be prepared to pay for extras. There is a little restaurant that is open for breakfast only. Breakfast is about $10.00. Every night we were there, there was some sort of a banquet being catered in the restaurant, so I think this hotel is a popular place for business meetings or retreats. There is one laundry room on the sixth floor with one washer and one dryer. (Broken but they did refund my money) Rooms are on the smallish side for a family of four. The chair was broken, but they replaced it when we asked. The hook on the bathroom door was missing, but they fixed that. The hotel is showing the wear and tear of being a beachfront hotel. I think we might have been better off staying at the Holiday Inn Express down the road, which was also beachfront and includes a breakfast. We used the fridge and microwave in the room. We packed a cooler daily and walked to the beach, which was just a short walk outside the back of the hotel. You have to rent the chairs for $25.00 per day or $5.00 an hour. (Two chairs and one umbrella) Take your own beach towels. I did not see any towels for hotel guests to use at the pool or beach.

We liked this part of Orange Beach because it wasn't as crowded as other beaches we've been to. Most of the people on our little stretch of beach were staying at the Hilton Garden Inn.

We will go back, but I don't know about the Hilton Garden Inn. I cannot figure out what Hilton Garden Inns are. They are as expensive as a Hilton Hotel, so it's not like a Holiday Inn Express. It's just a Hilton with a restaurant that serves breakfast, but it 's not a complimentary breakfast as they have at HIE.

Go to Lambert's restaurant with kids or teenagers. It's fun. Be prepared for a 45 minute wait, but time goes by fast. They do not take credit cards, so take cash! Food portions are huge. You'll have lunch for the next day with the leftovers. Skip the banana pudding.

Skip the dolphin watching. We saw four dolphins. We've been in New England and have seen whales and dolphins, so maybe we were expecting too much.

Our stay here was wonderful!! The location was great, easy to find, and the rooms are large. I arrived very early, around breakfast time but was unable to check-in of course but that was no problem. The front desk asked for our cell phone number and contacted us as soon as our room became available. That was very nice of them I thought. Once we checked-in our stay was beautiful. The balcony is nice and the beds are comfortable.
You also have a fridge to keep your food and drinks cold and a microwave to warm leftovers. This is a great place to relax!!
