We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in one of Caribe's penthouse condos (vrbo #124617). The moment we entered our condo, we were speechless. We were immediately impressed by the upscale decor and large rooms. The high-end kitchen made cooking a pleasant adventure. The dinner table could have easily sat 8, maybe even 10. The wet bar with its wine chiller and separate ice machine added a very nice and much appreciated adult touch to the family vacation. The laundry room was, of course, indispensible, and it contained little extras like sand toys and floats. Sunset views from our balcony were spectacular.
There are several pools, many heated, both indoor and outdoor. The outdoor pools are all so large that they never seemed crowded, and there were always plenty of chairs available. The kids loved the slides and tubes at the pools. Our favorite was the (heated) lazy river. Again, it never seemed crowded, and there were more than enough innertubes. Only the indoor pools had closing times, so we never had to worry about missing out on that one last swim. My favorite way to start the day was a trip around the lazy river, which I could enjoy however early I got up. All of the outdoor pools have either a zero-entry level or a 6in. deep level with several small fountains, all great for the little ones to play in.
There are boat docks for those who bring or rent boats. Each building has a grill by its docks. There is an outdoor, enclosed toddler playground which was never overrun by bigger kids. The health spa has a wide variety of exercise equipment, and each treadmill, stairclimber, and stationary bike had its own tv. Assigned parking meant never having to search (our space was right outside the elevator entrance). The gated entry had a guard present at all times, and all condos have interior entrances. There is also a deli, a game room, and a shuttle to the beach, but we were so busy enjoying the pools, playground, lazy river, kitchen, wet bar, and views that we never used these extras.
It seemed that most of the other vacationers were families, but we were never bothered by wild, loud kids running loose. I actually experienced a father make his teen son apologize for running into the elevator ahead of my toddler and me. Knowing that the resort attracts polite families who have control of their kids is definitely a plus!
Our only complaint was that music was piped into the pool areas early in the morning, and it was loud enough that we could hear it even on the top floor balcony. At that time of day, all we wanted to hear was waves and birds.
My kids, ages 1-20, have declared Caribe as the best vacation spot we've ever been to; and I'd certainly have to agree with them!

We stayed at the Caribe in B1211 from July 21-July 28. We absolutely loved it! We had wanted a place with a large pool and found the Caribe with three very large pools, 3 waterslides, lazy river, etc. We have never stayed at a place with pools like this. The waterslides are fun for all ages! My husband (45), our son (17), daughter (14), and me (41) loved the slides. Even my 66-year-old dad and 61-year-old mom went on the slides! There are so many chairs and tables around the pools that we never had trouble finding a great place to sit no matter what time of day we went to the pool or which pool we went to. If you enjoy fishing, you can fish off the dock at the resort. My husband enjoyed the Tiff Eagle putting green which is definitely NOT your typical putting green. My parents stayed with us for three days and had a hard time leaving! A recent review negatively commented about the beach access but we had no trouble. The shuttle comes every 15 - 20 minutes right to the door of each building and drops you off at the boardwalk to the beach. We had no problem getting a shuttle to or from the beach. You can also easily drive over to the beach and walk down a shorter boardwalk. Either way, it is no big deal at all. However, even though we are "beach people" we enjoyed the pools, etc. so much that we only went to the beach one day. It was very nice to stay someplace that didn't have sand everywhere by the end of the week! Our condo was beautiful and very clean. The owners were great to work with. We have stayed in Gulf Shores, Destin, Navarre, Fort Morgan, and Orange Beach and have never been this happy with our decision. I can not say enough good things about the Caribe.

I had never been to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach before and was just going by what I had seen on the travel channel and on the internet to base my decision to go there for a family vacation. I investigated around to find the "best" place to stay and stumbled upon Caribe-the resort. I debated whether I would like not being right on the beach from my condo, but after looking over the amenities at Caribe I decided to book there. What a great decision! Yes, it was sort of a pain to load up the car with all the beach junk and we got sand everywhere in the car (it was a rental, though), but we could have taken the Caribe's trolley to the beach if we wanted. It was soooo nice, though to hit the pools because there are many of them at the Caribe and they are all different, plus there are three waterslides, and the lazy river. Each building has an indoor heated pool (nice in the evening), but the pools outside were so nice we were able to go there at night too. I am definitely glad I made the choice to stay here instead of a condo right on the beach with just one plain old pool. The Caribe's location is great too and no matter what condo you stay in you'll have a great view of either Perdido Pass or the gulf. I would recommend staying up high in the condo if you could because then the view is awesome. We were on the 12th floor of unit B and just getting up and looking out the huge windows and seeing a mass of ocean was soooo cool. A great place to stay if you have kids who like to swim, but close enough to the beaches that it's fun to go there too.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — all of the pools and the view
    • Disliked — The fact that you're renting a condo - you lose the "hotel service" as far as getting directions and advice from the staff - there's not really all that many staff around.

Liar, Liar, Liar: Your pants are on Fire.
I specifically requested a room on the Gulf.
I requested that I would be directly on the beach.
If you consider getting in your car, driving one mile, across the bridge, then parking and unloading your beach stuff and then walking to the beach: on the Gulf. Then go for it.
Not only are the pictures deceiving, but the sales agent that booked the room for me told me that I was on the Gulf. I have e-mails to prove it.
I am incensed!!! I only have three days to enjoy the beautiful white sandy beaches of Florida, and Caribe Resort has ruined that for me and my children. Teenage boys do not want to stay cooped up in the room all day. They want to be on the beach. But now they have to be driven to the beach. All I can say is this is the worst vacation of my life. What a waste of money.

“CARIBE RESORT, FIRST CLASS”

Caribe The Resort

Just returned from a week in Orange Beach/Gulf shores. Overall our vacation was a very positive experience. We had never been in this area before but had heard nice things about it.
We decided to spurge and stay at the Caribe Resort and were not disappointed at all, this place is first class all the way. The pictures from their web site didn't lie at all. From the minute we walked in the door of our condo our jaws dropped to the floor, it was beautiful, well furnished and spacious. We stayed in D901, from the balcony we could see the ocean, the bay and the pools.
I recommend Jake's Steakhouse in Orange Beach, our steaks were cooked just the way we ordered and were very tender. We also drove up to Foley and ate at Lamberts Cafe what an experience, kids loved it and the food was really good.
For fun we went to Adventure Island and the Track, both were alot of fun. And by all means drive over to Pensacola and visit The Naval Aviation Museum, this is also home to the Blue Angels, who practice Tuesday and Wednesday. One day we went to the beach and discovered jelly fish all over the beach so decided not to get in but overall the beach was very nice, real soft sand and clean water.
