Just returned home from our family vacation in Orange Beach, which has been our destination of choice for the last several years. My husband and I take our 6 children down for a week, then he and I go back, (just the two of us), later in the summer. For the last four years, (on our family trip), we have stayed at Caribe The Resort, which is located just off the east side of the Perdido Pass bridge, on the bay. The accommodations and grounds are breathtakingly beautiful and the amenties are superior to every other place in the area.
The Caribe has two and three bedroom condos. The largest floor plan is a three bedroom + media room. This is the unit that we get. In a lot of cases, the media rooms will be furnished with a sleeper sofa or bunk beds, so it's basically like a four bedroom. If you have a large family, as we do, or if you are looking for a place to share with others, it’s a great choice. The condos have large living rooms with a wall of floor to ceiling windows. They have gourmet kitchens, with granite countertops, tumbled marble backsplashes, stainless steel appliances including a convection oven, microwave, dishwasher, ice machine, and in the newly opened building, there is even a warming drawer and a refrigerated wine cooler! There is also a separate laundry room with full size washer and dryer. The master suite is exquisite. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub for two, a separate glass shower, and a long marble top double vanity with lots of drawers and cabinets.
The outdoor amenities are amazing! Currently, there are two HUGE outdoor pools, with, get this---WATER SLIDES!!! There are also indoor pools, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, state of the art exercise facility, steam sauna, dry sauna, a putting green, and an enormous sun deck that has a lazy river that you float around on an intertube. The beach is just a short walk away, but if you prefer, Caribe offers a beach shuttle that will take you there. Another really nice thing about the resort is that you can not drive onto the property without your parking pass or visitor’s pass. There is a guard shack at the entrance which is staffed 24 hours a day, and they will NOT open the gate unless you have a pass.
I highly recommend the Caribe Resort to everyone, especially families. I won’t beat around the bush regarding the price…It is probably one of the most pricey places in the Orange Beach/Gulf Shores area. Having said that, I will tell you that our kids enjoy the amenities provided onsite at the Caribe so much, that we aren’t having to fork out the cash for all the amusement parks!
