Calypso Joe's had the most festive atmosphere of the restaurants we ate at during our recent vacation to Gulf Shores. We liked getting to eat at the Marina and seeing the large fishing boats. Food was good with lots of flavor. Was disappointed that were out of a couple of things we tried to order. Service was very slow. We would go back there again though.

The atmosphere was really neat. The food was pretty good. The only problem was the service. We expected to wait for a table, that was alright. However, once we were seated, we didn't see a waitress for 15 minutes. We were pretty much forgotten about! The alcoholic drinks were $7 each. Our meals were $20 each. The whole tab came to $91 for two adults and two small children. I don't know about you, but when I drop a hundred dollars for a meal, I expect my waitress to be efficient and friendly.. Ours was not. I hope you have better luck!

After a two hour dolphin cruise across the street, we ventured into the Orange Beach Marina to eat at Calypso Joe's. It was a great place to eat lunch. For five adults and two children, the price was $70.00 total. We all had sandwiches that came with island slaw and fries. Even though we ate inside because it was sooo hot outside, it would have been neat to sit outside and see all the big boats in the marina. Not a fancy place - menus are printed like a newspaper - but a great place for some "real" food and lots of selection.

Maybe the fried shrimp po-boy was just a little lacking, but I was not impressed with the food in the least. The rest of my party, however, really enjoyed their's especially the hamburgers and chicken salad. I loved the atmosphere! It is really beautiful and even allows the children to feed the fish while you wait to be seated.
