The gumbo is always good. The food to my knowledge is always fresh and the service has never been an issue. In and out in no time and the food is great. I never have eaten at the Gulf Shores location but would imagine it would have a lot of tourons (tourist that are morons) eating there. That is just the nature of the beast with Gulf Shores though. If you want a good meal, don't want to get dressed up and need to eat quick, this is THE place.
My husband and I took our two toddlers to Doc's and enjoyed it.
The wait staff was fabulous. constatly checked on us and always had our cups full. Prices were reasonable. I had the grilled shrimp salad for about $10. The salad was excellent. Very good grilled shrimp. I also had a cup of gumbo for about $5. It was probably one of the best gumbo's I have every had. My son had the child's fried fish, french fries, and corn on the cob ($5.99) it was not bad but I am not a huge fan of fried fish. If in the area we would probably return.
We always make one or two trips to Doc's on our visits to the beach here. If you want reasonable prices with lots of fried fish and shrimp (the portions are great), we get our to go and enjoy this dinner on our deck overlooking the Gulf. The people are good "neighbors next door". Go...enjoy
You get to make your own cocktail sauce with raw horseradish, ketchup and your favorite hot sauce. Cold beer is a big plus here.
We love the Orange Beach location of Doc's, so we thought we would try the Gulf Shores location. Other than the name on the door, nothing was the same. I was not impressed. The food was over priced for the portion size and lacked flavor. The hushpuppies were the out of a bag frozen variety and the smallest I've ever seen. The salad bar is a joke. If you want to try Doc's Seafood, pass this one by and go straight to the Orange Beach location.
