The food here is good, but it isn't what I would personally call great. I will go back again, because it has alwyas been consistent, and the people are nice. This is a a great place for live entertainment. There is a seperate building in the back for the party atmosphere, so families with kids can go, and not worry about the crowd. My favorite band to play there? The Velcro Piygmies, and they play there from time to time, and they rock! The put on a great show.
We had heard mixed reviews from local people about Live Bait. We decided to give it a try, I certainly would never try it again. The service was poor. Waitress was rude. Although I will say that I watched some of the other wait staff, during our long wait for our food, and other tables seemed to have much better (and friendlier) service. We all got the steamed shrimp. It was over cooked, the shrimp was very dry/tough and the sides were sparce. I will say that the atmosphere is fun. But, the food is really pretty poor. And the other reviews that point out the poor service were right on the money. I wouldn't go back again. We found some great restaurants in town, this just wasn't one of them.
Just went deep sea fishing and picked this resturant for our last meal before leaving. The band was great and you have to try the almond crusted snapper its the bomb...... will be back to eat there soon as I can fish again or just vacation. 06-08-08 GREAT PLACE FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY.

We ate twice at Live Bait during our 5 night stay at OB. Both times we were happy w/ the food and service. The second time we came right before closing and they were still happy to serve us. The seafood nachos were especially good along w/ the gumbo.
I like the one at the Wharf for food, but this place has great bands
