“Loved Orange Beach Hampton Inn!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

Stayed in Room 914, lovely stay both clean and comfortable. Hotel is very nice and employees are all superb. We were very pleased with this hotel and will be driving again from Canada to stay here. The hotel is very clean and modern, lovely decor and nice that there is a small grocery store across the street with restaurants. Thank you southern people for showing us how to look for crabs at night!

Room Tip: Room 914 was a two queen suite with a pull out bed and had a very nice view of the ocean. We thought...

Thank you so much for taking the time to review your recent stay at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Orange Beach, AL. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and are thrilled that you have plans on coming back to see us all the way from Canada. We hope that you had good luck finding those crabs at night. It really is neat all the crabs that are on the shore when the sun goes down. Again, we truly appreciate you comments and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Brought the family here at the suggestion of a friend. I rented a suite for myself, the wife, and our 2 kids. It's not a suite. It's an oversized room divided by a desk. On one side is the "room" with 2 queen size beds, on the other side is the "room" with a sofa bed. The kitchen is a microwave and a small fridge that any hotel has these days. On the plus side, the balcony view of the beach is great. The pool is nice but needs to be cleaned better. My boys complained that the pool water stinks, which it did. They do have a really nice breakfast bar with plenty of items to choose from. Get there early for breakfast because it turns into chaos after 8am. Overall this hotel is nice, but crowded.

Thank you so much for your feedback from your recent stay at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Orange Beach, AL. We really appreciate you for taking the time to tell us what you think. In regards to the suite, it is actually advertised as a studio because of the common misconception that there is more than one room. I am sorry that this was not explained to you when making your reservation. Thank you for bringing the pool water to our attention, we will be looking into that immediately. Again, thank you for bringing these opportunities to our attention and we do hope that we get to see you again in the future.

Overall, this hotel provided the same standard of excellence I've come to expect from Hampton Inn. BUT, the business center and wireless internet were terrible (don't expect to get any business done here). Also, the walls were paper-thin and I could hear my neighbors every word for the entire stay. Finally, the prices are outrageous in comparison to other comparable stays in the area, yet they'll still charge you $5/hour for a chair on the beach. You don't have to look hard to find another spot for less than $400/night with complimentary chairs and umbrellas on the beach.

Overall, this is a fantastic place, and we can't imagine staying anywhere else. It's very family friendly, the sand is so soft and cool, the Gulf water is really warm, and the pool is good too. So fun!

Bad News:
The lack of a mini-fridge is really the only complaint we had. Our child eats a bowl of cereal as a bedtime snack every night, so we had to stop at Publix every night which was something we could have done without. If we come back, we would seriously consider buying a mini-fridge at Wal-Mart. We just thought it was fairly bizarre to be on a really hot beach and not have a fridge to keep cold drinks and snacks.

Good News:
We loved the staff - everyone at the front desk was really helpful.

The rooms were really clean - we love that every duvet is washed for new guests.

The breakfast was great. It's in a really beautiful room overlooking both the pool and the gulf. They have an assortment of the usual continental breakfast items, along with a rotating selection of omelets, French toast sticks, and scrambled eggs. There's also a waffle station every day. We figured it saved us approximately $40/day plus the hassle of finding a breakfast restaurant every morning with little kids.

It really has the best location by far. It's very centrally located to great restaurants, the Publix grocery store, Wal-Mart is nearby too.

The pool is really fun. It's zero-entry, has squirters and is indoor/outdoor. There are an assortment of pool toys too that people buy and "donate" upon their departure. We also bought sand toys and donated those to the cause.

Be sure to bring flashlights with you if you come here. Everyone loves going crabbing at night - the beach is covered with people scouring the sand for crabs when it's dark! It looks really funny!

Thank you so much for your kind words about your recent stay at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Orange Beach, AL. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay with us and aplogize that you had to make that inconvenient trip to Publix for cereal, we wish we would have known we could have taken care of that for you. We are in the process of looking into getting the mini fridges and microwaves for our rooms so hopefully when you return you will not have to worry about the late night trips to the store.

We booked our short getaway may 31-june 2. After some confusion with national reservations, which left a bad taste in my mouth, we headed to Orange Beach. The hotel is situated right on the beach built slightly to west which makes for beautiful sunsets. Whatever problems I had before I left were quickly forgotten. The hotel was very nice. The staff I encountered were friendly and they accomodated me with an early check in which was a bonus. The room was clean and well appointed. Our room had a balcony which overlooked the white sand beaches. I would recommend paying the few extra dollars for it. Also, make sure you get a floor above 4 and on the east end of the building, if you want the best view and the least noise from the pool area. Breakfast was average, crowded and chaotic. There are plenty of restaurant and grocery choices close by and even walking distance. As Gulf Shores/Orange Beach hotels go...I would certainly say it is among the top 2 or 3.

Extremely clean rooms and excellent breakfast. The pool was clean and partially covered for a break from the sun. The manager went out of her way to make the stay affordable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Difficult to choose the right hotel given all the same looking high rise clones along the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach coastline. So perfect time to log-on to Trip Advisor. And at the top of the pile - Hampton Inn and Suites. Problem solved. So we booked an oceanview king studio suite with balcony at $279 with breakfast – or rather $310 after city tax, county tax and state tax had been added in. Our initial view of the hotel’s outer appearance was not great given there was a covered 2 deck parking lot at the front which obscures the main entrance to the hotel. Anyway – inside it’s all bright and cheerful. We stayed in room 814 – and no doubting the great view we had over the white sandy beach and ocean. The room was bright, clean and, being a studio, we had a microwave and fridge. Other plus points – comfy beds, free wifi and free garage parking out front. Negatives – no safe in the room and, in the bathroom, there was a bath with shower unit rather than a walk-in shower. The hotel was bustling and I can see why it’s very popular for families with children – especially given the great pool area and the boardwalk straight down to the beach. However, not so sure for couples. Incidentally, the breakfast was not that great – for me – too many people crowding into a rather small area and not enough tables at busy times. Overall – a bit surprised by the #1 Trip Advisor rating – sure, it’s clean, great views from the oceanfront rooms, very practical for families but at over $300 (admittedly for a studio suite oceanfront) I would have expected more atmosphere, elegance and charm.
