We had originally planned to stay at Island Winds West condos in Gulf Shores, but upon lugging everything from the trunk up to our condo, we found it to be in very bad shape. Long story short, we were able to talk to the staff at the front desk, they documented our concerns, and helped us to relocate to the Phoenix I in Orange Beach. Had to pay a little more, but it was worth it. Thanks to Elena at Island Winds who helped us out! Mike was also very considerate and helpful. Elena even helped me track a shipment after we relocated to the Phoenix, which was so very nice of her. So, our condo at Phoenix I was so much nicer (unit 1023). A little worn in places but overall nicely furnished. Very comfortable and we enjoyed it very much. I will say this -- it is situated just above the kiddy pool, which has a rather annoying waterfall feature (referred to as the "mushroom") that turned on every morning by 7-8am and woke us up - felt like it was just outside our bedroom window with being on 2nd floor. And it ran all day, till about 11pm. So we couldn't hear the ocean waves with the racket from this thing, at least not till after 11pm. I guess it's not a total deal breaker, as we spent much of the day at the beach and pool ourselves, but would have been nice for it to not be quite as noisy in the evenings - this coming from a Mom who is used to noise, but lives in Kansas and wants to hear the ocean! Haha. A plus, however, is that if you go to bed after11pm, you can hear the ocean waves crashing onto the beach from the master bedroom -with the windows closed even - talk about blissful. A beautiful oceanfront view from this condo. Really nice dining room table and chairs for family. Overall, a nice stay, good service, and we will return.
