“Camping out would have been better..”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

From the time we checked in we should have known that this was a train wreck waiting to happen. Half the elevators did not work during our entire stay, the floor in our room was never vacuumed, the toilet lid was broken, the in-room air conditioner was louder than a freight train forcing us to sleep without it, glassware from room service was never removed from our room (three days), and we really loved the guy cutting grass at 7:00AM, and the garbage truck right after that.

Room Tip: Run, do not walk to another hotel!!

Made a reservation for an ocean view room 4 months in advance. Upon arrival, we were taken to a room on the back side of the hotel. Immediately called the front desk. Spent about 20 minutes on hold only to be told that they did not have me down for an ocean view room and there was nothing they could do. They acted like their error was my fault. Dismal rating for customer service. Obviously, this did nothing to get my stay off to a good start. The hallways and most of the walls in the rooms look like textured cement which gives the place a cheap feel. The room furnishings are okay, but our king room only had one upholstered chair and one desk chair. Tiny balcony. Bed was a bit soft for me.Tub was chipped. Found a few long hairs that didn't belong to either of us. Bathroom is small, but there's another sink/mirror just outside. Ironing board cover had brown stains. WiFi strength is variable. It's a lo-o-ong walk from the far reaches of the parking lot with a bunch of stairs; offset is they have free valet if you don't mind the wait. Lobby areas are nice. Ballrooms are okay for meetings, but quite cold. Banquet food is slightly below average. This place is due for a makeover of the rooms and hallways to bring it up to date.

Room Tip: You had better confirm 10 times that you have an ocean view room if that's what you want.

We stayed here for a conference for 3 days. The room was clean but way below my expectation for the popularity and price of the Perdido Beach Resort. Due to the fact of forgetting to pack deodorant, I had to purchase it for a ridiculous price of $6 in the souvenir shop.
The hotel staff was very friendly from our arrival until the departure.

The room was excellent, nicely equipped, clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. In particular the female concierge and the lady bar tender were very accommodating and provided above and beyond service. The hotel location is great right beside the harbor entrance that gives excellent views of fishing and boat activities. The hotel restaurant is pricier than the food deserves. The service was excellent however the food was only just good. I would look at the plentiful restaurants down the strip. The breakfast area is good and worth the price. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Room Tip: We had a 5th floor beachfront with a great balcony which was worth the extra few dollars.

We stayed at the Perdido Beach Resort for 4 days in June 2013. This was our second stay at this hotel. The hotel is nice, though a little on the expensive side. The rooms are average. They are clean and basic- pretty much what you would expect from a hotel room. If it is in your budget, definitely get a pool or ocean view room. We traveled with a 1 year old and there was plenty of room to set up a pack & play and still move around with no problem. The bed was also very comfortable!! My husband is 6'5" and even he was comfortable.

The pool is definitely the best part of this hotel. It is huge and, even when crowded, never feels crowded. During our stay there, there were many times there were a number of people in the pool but there was lots of room.

The walk out to the beach is pretty long, so be prepared for that. There also is no ramp, it is all stairs. We always take our rolling beach cart on trips with us to make hauling kids, toys, snacks, etc out to the beach easier but we were unable to use it here. The beach is very nice and well kept, though, and the guys from the chair rental company are fantastic! They are super helpful and friendly. One of them saw me struggling with a tired toddler and all his toys and carried my things back to the hotel for me.

The breakfast buffet at Cafe Palm Breeze is very good and not pricey compared to many places ($10 for an adult). The staff in the restaurant were always very friendly. We ate lunch out by the pool most days and the food from the Half Shell snack bar was good as well. Everything is ala carte and it is very pricey! If you plan to eat there, be prepared to pay. Chicken fingers, fries and a drink will run you about $13. My husband had meetings in the mornings and afternoons so it was worth it for us to be able to spend time with him during lunch but otherwise, we may have gone elsewhere to eat.

We ordered pizza one night from the Pizzeria and it was very good. Prices range from $10-$20 depending on the size and toppings, so pretty average for pizza. We also got some ice cream there one night and it was delicious.

Every member of the staff that we encountered was extremely friendly. The housekeeping staff always spoke when we passed them in the halls and joked with the kids.

The only real complaint I had is that the parking is terrible. Valet is expensive and the self parking is situated in a way that most of the time we had to park a very long way from the entrance. Definitely not fun when it is 90 degrees and you have a toddler in tow.

Overall, I really like this hotel. We will most likely stay there again in the future.

Room Tip: Go for a pool view or ocean view. The views of the parking lot mostly have you looking at dumpsters...

Where do I start. We stayed here for seven days for a conference and brought our families. We booked 3 gulf front rooms for 7 days. The rooms are small and filthy but hey make the best of it is what we thought. We saw a giant cockroach on the first day. Then the other famwith us killed two. We saw one in the hallway and 4 scurried out from beneath the mini fridge. Then we killed one and brought it to the front desk to show them. We were told they were a common bug for the area and offered 20% off our bill. We weren't satisfied but okay we accepted that. Them this morning I was awakened by my daughter screaming. A giant roach was under the covers climbing on her! After speaking to management we were offered no additional discount but a discount on a future stay, yeah right! Despite the fact they were offering a 30% discount online for booking rooms, 20% is all you get for finding roaches in the bed with your children!

My husband and I generally go on at least one vacation per summer to the beach. This year, with a lot of things planned we couldn't dedicate a full week to any given destination. We decided to make a road trip to Orange Beach. After reading many reviews (bc that's what I do :D) we decided to give the Perdido Beach Resort a go. It looked comparable to the type of hotel we like to stay in. When we first arrived (a bit later than planned) we found out guaranteed check in wasn't until 4pm. Everything we received from our reservation showed 3pm. This had us a bit frustrated after a long drive, but thankful we had arrived a couple of hours later than planned. The hotel was very nice, the beach is very accessible and the sand is gorgeously white! The water was not the color we had hoped for but not as bad as it could've been. We didn't spend much time in the room, but we were in the East Tower with a partial beach view. The sunrise was beautiful! The balcony was a bit small, but if you're like us and spend your time at the beach it's perfect for housing the cooler. The walls seem very thin- you could hear people down the hall like they were standing outside your door speaking. Our fridge didn't work when got up to the room but they replaced it within 30 minutes or so. The bed is a bit soft for my liking, but comfortable for a home away from home. The bathroom was very small- you could barely fit one person in there with the door open. We didn't encounter much of the staff- the check in wasn't as we had planned, the bell hop was not very friendly, but the gift shop staff was very warm and pleasant. We didnt eat at all at the hotel, but the pizza/ice cream shop always seemed to be busy when we would walk by. All in all, for a short stay (definitely not enough time) we had a great time and enjoyed our stay. We'd definitely look into staying here again for another trip.
