A must-see if passing through Tuscaloosa area - I've seen lots of places with Indian history, but never these mounds. They remind me of the pyramids in Mexico, only smaller, and covered with grass. Quite fascinating to think a whole civilization lived here, and what the meaning of the different mounds was. You can walk around between the mounds, but in the Alabama heat, it's more desirable to drive - stop and climb the biggest mound, then proceed on to the museum - which was a delightful surprise and a class act ... except that there was an awful lot of generic native American merchandise in the shop.
