“5 star stay, except for check in parking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

Absolutely horrible parking for check in/valet service. Room for no more than 3 vehicles, one lane. If you are in the middle, you have to wait until someone moves the car in the front or back. If it's the back car, you have to back out into a 4 lane midtown intersection in order to get out. Very poor layout.

I stayed at the Hampton in downtown Montgomery for a business trip. This is a nicely located hotel in the business section of the city across from the convention center and a lot less expensive than the Renaissance Hotel. It is on the same block as "The Alley" - a great New Orleans-like area with excellent restaurants and bars. The staff was particularly helpful with my request for early check-in and very good about sorting out a problem I had in getting internet access. Try to get a room at the front (except perhaps on weekends when you are apt to hear music coming from the bars. The room I had at the back had noise from the air conditioning system or somewhere else ... and the view was not great. All-in-all I felt comfortable. No tub in the bathroom - only a shower. The cold water tap emitted hot water. The phone line was static filled and sometimes I had to redial. In spite of those few small things, I was happy with my stay and would probably book a room there again. But it did seem a tad expensive ($123 including taxes for a smallish standard). I suppose that the price reflects the excellent location.

This hotel has become my favorite place to stay when in Montgomery. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are stylish and comfortable, the lobby is gorgeous (a beautifully restored historic hotel), and breakfast is always good, with a lot of variety and great coffee. It really feels like a home away from home, and with restaurants and bars nearby, there's no need to drive in the evening.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views of the downtown and riverfront. The only room I've had that I di...

Had a pleasant stay. The hotel is close to all things downtown. The room was a bit noisy, though. We heard street traffic throughout the night. Would suggest some heavy duty "back out" curtains to help mask the noise.

I was a little nervous to stay right downtown, but I was so happy we did. The hotel is in a great location...close the the little river-walk area and right around the corner from a lot of restaurants with cafe style seating outside. It looks like there have been some recent renovations to the rooms, extremely comfortable bed/bedding, nice tv, and it was quiet.

I checked into this Hampton Inn late on October 20 around 10:45 pm. I had passed this building frequently as they were renovating it and making it into this hotel. I had heard it was very nice. The lobby was beautiful and grand! The front desk clerk told me it had been a bank at one time, and you could see in the two-story lobby the wrought-iron balcony all the way around the perimeter of the lobby. The rooms were very modern, and the renovators did a great job on this building. The bed was comfortable as well. Everything was very clean. The continental breakfast was ok and had a lot of choices. The parking is a bit tight; there is a small lot behind the hotel, but when it fills I'm not sure where one might park. You can park in the metered parking along the streets, but at 8 am they start charging at the meters. At any rate, next time I'm in Montgomery on business, I will for sure stay here!
