Pros: the view, room size, 98% of the staff were friendly and welcoming, great pool, downtown Montgomery attractions were in walking distance from hotel

Cons: The two young ladies who checked us in on Friday June 10th. The best way to describe them is detached. They made me feel like my requests when checking in (high floor, river view, not near an elevator) were putting them out and they had other things to do even though we were the only ones checking in at the time. We met a number of other staff members who were very friendly and we learned a lot from them about the city and the hotel. Two negative things about the room: the intake vent under the thermostat looked like it hadn't been dusted in quite a while, not good if you have allergies. The printed hotel guide was lacking things like a map showing pool location (it's on the roof of the parking garage not the roof above the rooms); several numbers in it were listed incorrectly. Everything else was spotless. Beds and pillows very comfortable.

Room Tip: request river view away from elevators

I travel around 3-4 times a year for work and would describe most of the hotels I stay in as adequate and suitable from my needs, but nothing really memorable. With that said, I LOVED this hotel! It had touches that differentiated it from being just a "cookie-cutter" hotel that could be anywhere in the country--I loved the local artwork and displays, like the women's older Southern dresses on the wall above the check-in counter--while still maintaining a feel of elegance.

I also loved the outdoor rooftop pool, which is very nice--the water was so warm I could have stayed in there all day without getting cold. The gym is also great and well-stocked with a good variety of machines/equipment. One of my favorite hotel pools and gyms.

I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed only 1 night. Room was comfortable enough. We got a good price by booking at the last minute. Staff very friendly. The rooftop pool is very cool, but it's nearly impossible to find. The hotel is very hard to navigate, and the front desk never told us that we'd have to use different banks of elevators depending on where we wanted to go. To find the rooftop pool, we had to track down a housekeeping person who ultimately took us there. The fitness center looked clean and well-equipped but it could use a few Swiss balls. The in-room movie was 14 plus tax -- seemed like a lot -- and there is nearly 20% city tax on the room charges.

I love downtown Montgomery. The Hampton across the street seems very nice but this was the location of a confernce I just attended and the reservations where made (and paid for) by the host so I stayed. I could not have been more pleased. I was given a river view. You cannot see how beautiful it was from the pictures. Sorry for the quality - took them on my Blackberry. All the facilities where great. I could go on and on about the positives but I will just say this is a perfect place to dine (Sa Za's) or attend a Biscuits Game (HIGHLY RECOMMEND). Great facilities for conferences, weddings, reunions, etc. Breakfast was really good and all of the staff were wonderful - especially Sonya and Jasmin in the restaurant. The pool was AMAZING! Great city views!

Pros: Location, staff, pool
Cons: None. I didn't sleep well but it had nothing to do with train sounds. Niether I, nor anyone I spoke with, complained about the trains. Of course, I hear helicopters firing live rounds most night were I live so.....

Hotel was nice but for the money I expected more than just "nice". The freight trains pass by all during the night so don't expect more than a couple of hours of sleep. The restaurant is very expensive and food quality is below average. Also the web access will cost you $10 extra.
If you stay here you will want to dine at one of the great restaurants in the area. Dreamlands, Saza, Wentzels, and The Deli are all great choices.
I've also stayed at the Hampton across the street. They have free wifi and a nice breakfast is included in the price of the room, and it's not nearly as noisy as the Renaissance.

This hotel is amazing. the standard rooms are very clean and spacious. I had two large queen beds, large bathroom and nice view of Beautiful downtown Montgomery. Pool was great, my daughter loved the pool and had an amazing view and had a bar! My only complaint was that parking garage is a hike to front desk and can be hard with alot of luggage. All in all a great stay with nice ammenties.

Stayed here overnight for a function in the ballroom. This place is outstanding n many ways. The rooms were spacious with separate shower and tub. The shower was encased in glass and large enough for two people. Very large high def TV with multimedia center. The only draw back was that we were in a room that had a door to the next room for a connected room if you wanted it. The door was not soundproof and we could here the conversation of the people next door very clearly. Recommend getting a room without a connecting door if possible. Everything was great and would stay there again whenever in Montgomery.

It was 10 dollars to park overnight and it was added to the bill.

Room Tip: Don't one with a connecting room door.
