My son was shipping out for the army and this is the MEPS station that they have to stay in overnight before they ship out,so I wanted to be close to him so I could spend as much time as possible before he left. I think I spent more time with the front desk clerk than my son! I called the morning of the 23rd and made resevations for a king bed in a smoking room, when we got there we were given a double bed no smoking room, the desk clerk moved us to the outside in a king roomwhich was also non-smoking. I went back and he gave me an ashtray and made it smoking. My husband went to to take a shower and after 20 minutes still had no hot water, I went to check it and when I pulled the shower curtain back it was covered with mold, there was alsomold on the walls and ceilings in room and bathroom. I went back to the front desk and he moved us next door, the water was hot but when my husband got out of the shower there wa a dirty towel hanging on the back of the door, this was our third room so I let it go. When I went to pull back the covers thre was hair all over the sheets, not just a couuple the maid could have lost but at least 15 of different lengths all over the sheets. I went back to the front desk and he was going to move us again but I just asked for clean sheets and changed them myself. The next morning I complained to the front desk manager and she was very apologetic and gave us half off the room I still don't think we should have paid anything but she was so nice and my son had just shipped out and all I wantd to do was go home. The only thing this hotel has going for it is it's emplyees and I wrote the min office concerning my problems and these same wonderful employees will prbably be the ones punished. I would advise any families of soldiers shipping out to stay in another hotel and visit with your son or dughter in the common areas until it is time for them to go to there room, it will b well worth the extra drive. My son's room was not even cleaned from the night beforeat all. I think thats a pretty dirty way to treat these enlistees who are about to go fight for our freedoms. I would encourage anyone who has stayed there with an enlistee to contact anyone you can as I am doing about our soldiers last night in a real bed and the conditions they are in. I would sleep in my car before I stayed in this hotel again!

I have been to Montgomery several times on business, thankfully to this place only once. The first room was poolside, and no sleep as a party was going on until 4am., and staff seemed unable or unwilling to shush the noise(pool closes at 10pm). The room was damp, mold on walls, dirty linens, and the air conditioner had no knobs and stuck and warm. The next day, I was moved to an outside room, quieter but nastier. The A/C drained inside the room, making mold and dampness a huge problem for anyone that breathes. The blanket was covered in hair that was not mine, pubic hair in tub stall and linens, food on bedspread, garbage in dresser drawers. This A/C only leeked, again no cold air. The third day I was moved again, only to once again encounter a filthy room and minimal A/C. When these issues(along with front desk's care less attitude), the problems were blamed on corporate takeovers. If you ever go to Montgomery, you should stay as far away from the Lexington as possible. Not worthy of the one star I was forced to rate it at.

Typically when I read reviews and see several bad ratings, I think, "These folks are probably just extremely picky, and the vocal minority, most people are only going to leave reviews when they have bad experiences, thus ratings will be unfairly biased, etc." I stand corrected on this one.

I see that someone posted about new management in December of 2006. If what they said was true, this place must have been a cave before the new management took over.

Against my better judgment, we booked our room online as my wife had stayed here when she was younger and had many fond memories of her stays here. I noticed the reviews weren't great, but as mentioned above, and my wife's description I figured it couldn't be that bad.

First Impressions:

Check in went smoothly, staff was courteous. However when we got to our FIRST room, it went downhill. We opened the door and the smell of hot, wet dog smacked me in the face. I immediately went to turn the AC on and found the knobs and control panel to be broken off..... yeah.....

We went back up to the front desk and reported the problem and requested another room. One of the staff members said it would be difficult due to all of the events here this weekend, however the other staff member came over and instructed her to try, and what do you know, they had a room available!!

So on to room number two. We walk in and get the wet dog smell, but the AC is a least blowing a bit. I crank it to the coldest setting on the thermostat and hi cool, and, nothing happens....air doesn't cool down, air doesn't blow harder on Hi cool vs. Lo Cool..... at this point my wife is ready to leave, cut our losses and find another hotel. I told her that maybe it just needed to "warm up" and to give it a little while. So we unload the car and get things into the room.

The grease stains on the wall over the bed were a bit disconcerting, as were the ant and what appeared to be pubic hairs on the washcloths in the bathroom. I wasn't too bothered by this as I'm sure this occurs elsewhere, it was just found by my wife who was going over everything with a fine-toothed comb due to our other issues. The bed has some obvious spring wear as you can feel the springs in some areas of the bed but not in others. The little touch ups that could be made would be cheap and easy to give a sense of pride of ownership from hotel management. Right now it appears that the very bare minimum is being done to keep these rooms in working condition.

Other "minor" things:

Wasp nest and wasps camping out on the upper left corner of our door.....maybe some type of new wake up call??

Hole in the wall in the bathroom.

Cobwebs on the ceiling.

Ice bucket had mildew growing in it.

Paint peeling above the shower head in the bathroom.

Stained sheets....yikes!!

We decided to stay the night as we had already paid $80+ on Orbitz for the room and could not get a refund according to their terms of use. The aforementioned mildew bucket, cobwebs and hole in the wall were found last night and this morning. I will say the indoor pool and arcade would be nice for kids, but I don't know if I could justify that to stay in a room with the same issues we had. I think we can safely say that unless there is a complete, from the ground up renovation of this hotel, we will not be staying here again.

“Checked Out of the Lexington Montgomery after Only 10 Minutes”

Lexington Hotel Montgomery

Jul 24, 2007

I was shocked and amazed by the DEPLORABLE conditions of this facility-- My room looked NOTHING like the Internet photos of Lexington Hotel facilities (i.e. Orlando City Place), I should have made reservations to stay in the lobby as the "Lexington Montgomery" photo per their website is consistent with the actual physical lobby. I made reservations as part of a family reunion. After checking in, it took 20 minutes to find my interior room. I was amazed at how filty not only the facility was, but my room was equally as filty! Dirty stairwell, stained carpet in the hall leading to the room. " Do not touch/ Wet Paint " sign on a door down from my room. Once inside, I saw a stained chair ottoman. Standing water in bathtub with a dripping faucet, a rust stain in toilet, and a stained towel for use. I checked out after only 10 minutes, the front desk clerk didn't even ask me why I was leaving--guess she already knew... I drove to a new facility across the street and paid a nominal price difference for a CLEAN ROOM with CLEAN towels, CLEAN chairs, NO RUST STAINS in the toilet, NO STANDING WATER and DRIPPING FAUCET in the tub; free breakfast and a front desk clerk that cared enough to ask how my stay was.
This facility is dated, and overdue for renovation, despite being a recent acquisition from a major hotel chain. Property management should take a trip to Montgomery, check in to room number _ _ _ and see for themselves!

Our family reunion was booked at this hotel. For the few who actually booked there, they were terribly disappointed.

Many more hotels in the immediate area that are much better.
