Had an awesome time!!! Love the area and the many amenities at the hotel. My check in process was a breeze. The clerk Deantry was so professional and helpful . His personality came off very bright and welcoming to my husband and I. He gave us many choices to view in the Montgomery area. Even though I thought it was gonna be a dry trip. Everything worked out just fine. The downtown area is very lovely but seem to be getting updated. My very first time staying at a Staybridge. Was kinda confused on behalf of what company it fell under.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

We travel a LOT and this is one of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed at. The location is EXCELLENT with lots of restaurants and shopping nearby.

Our first complaint. Upon making the reservation several days before, I was told that if we arrived early and the room was ready, we could check in before 3 p.m. We arrived at 2:20 and were greeted by a snarky front desk clerk, Deantry. I didn't even get a complete sentence out of my mouth ("My name is XXXX and we're checking in."), before he cut me off mid-sentence, stating rudely, "Check in is at 3 p.m." I told him what we were told about early arrival and he said the rooms "were not in the system yet". I asked what that meant and he just replied "it means they are not in the system." Mmmm, okay.

We grabbed a cup of coffee from the refreshment area and sat at a table. I watched as two other guests came in and they were told the same thing. I went back to the counter at 2:40 and asked if the rooms were in the system yet and he said "No, they are not." I asked if this was a usual occurrence and he said "it happens all the time". Really? That close to 3 p.m. and NONE of the rooms are in the system??? He was once again, very abrupt and rude and we were getting antsy because we had somewhere we had to be at 3:30 and this snarky little clerk was going to make us late.

At 2:55 I approached the desk again and he seemed quite annoyed. As I tried to ask about the room, the phone rang and he held up his hand as if to say "stop talking". I was so angry by now at his behavior that I walked back to my husband to tell him we should just find another hotel. About this time, (approximately 2:58), another gentleman came walking through and went behind the desk. The first clerk, grabbed his things and stomped out the door, never saying a word to anyone.

We approached the desk and the new clerk (Brandon), could see our puzzled expressions. I told him we were trying to check in but were told numerous times that the rooms were not "in the system yet". He was able to check us in in under 2 minutes. The rooms had been in the system all along! I asked what the first clerk's problem was and why we were told that and Brandon said he had no idea what was going on but he apologized profusely. Throughout our stay we interacted with Brandon several times and he was always very polite and extremely helpful. We never saw Deantry again.

Our second complaint. Upon going to bed, we lowered the thermostat as low as it would go but it stops at 65 degrees, you can't go lower. For some that might be fine (even cold), but I do not have a thyroid and have no control over my internal body temperature. About an hour after falling asleep, I began to get hot. I threw off the covers, turned the ceiling fan on high, and checked the thermostat again. It still would not go lower than 65 degrees. I got so hot I almost threw up. At one point I threw a sheet on the bathroom floor and laid there for close to an hour. It was miserable in the room. My husband (who still has a thyroid), also got too warm. He said he couldn't feel any cool air circulating in the bedroom area at all. It was a long, hot night.

The breakfast was standard fare; cereal, muffins, fruit, boiled eggs, yogurt, oatmeal, bagels, make-your-own waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, cream gravy, biscuits, coffee and juice. Nothing fancy, but certainly made to look that way. The breakfast area is lovely and the breakfast staff are very friendly and helpful.

They have an outdoor, heated, saltwater pool that we did not have time to use, but we'll certainly give it a dip the next time we're there.

I would stay at this hotel again. It's beautiful, spacious, and offers lots of amenities. I would however, request that the thermostat box be unlocked so that we could be more comfortable while sleeping. I would also be suspicious of anyone telling me the "rooms are not in the system" at check-in time.

If you stay here, you HAVE to eat at Mimi's Cafe, just up the street a couple of blocks . The food is AMAZING!!!!!

I recently stayed at this hotel after a day at Auburn University's A-Day football game. The location is not far from Auburn and was the closest hotel available. I reserved online and followed up with an email which requested a "lake" view room as suggested as a room tip by another contributor to TripAdvisor saying it was quieter. After a lighting quick (and friendly) check in we got to the room but instead of overlooking a lake it overlooked a stripmall across the street. We were so tired from a long day I didn't bother checking for another room. We opted for the one bedroom style suite which was nice but much smaller than other one bedroom suites we have stayed in. The room was clean with a full size fridge, small cook top and microwave in the kitchen. We needed ice and I was surprised the only available ice machine was down in the lobby in the food service area. The fridge has an icemaker but it is emptied between guests and takes time to fill. The extra sheets for the sofa bed were missing pillow cases and I was disappointed in how thin the mattress was but my kids did not seem to mind. I noticed why the tip was given to request a lake view room as I could here traffic on the interstate at night though it wasn't that loud. I could also hear the people in the neighboring room talking so I don't think the walls have much insulation. They offer a complimentary breakfast and have a small eating area inside. There is space to eat outside and it was very nice with a fireplace and multiple tables and chairs. The staff was extremely friendly and professional and kept the breakfast offerings well stocked. Overall this hotel was nice but I expected more with such a high ranking on TripAdvisor.

Room Tip: I would recommend a room on the back of the hotel, it may be quieter.

This property is located in a nice area with lots of restaurants and shopping. The property itself was wonderful. The pool area was very nice. There is an outdoor eating area and a beautiful outdoor fireplace. The property also has a basketball (half) court. Our room was a suite and had a stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. It was clean. No complaints!

We utilized recommendations on TripAdvisor to select our hotel in Montgomery and the Staybridge Suites met our expectations. The rooms were very roomy and clean. There were many amenities available, such as a nice pool, fitness room and beautiful and comfortable lobby. Also, the outside patio was very relaxing and the entire grounds nicely landscaped.

The breakfast was everything you could ask for and there was plenty of room to sit at a table in the very nice dining area.

We also liked the location. We had not been to Montgomery in many years and wanted to visit Jasmine Hill Gardens, which is only open on the weekends. This hotel was convenient to that and we only had a short 9 mile drive up to the gardens, which were absolutely spectacular, even better than Bellingrath Gardens we thought. There are several nice restaurants located near the hotel.

The staff at the hotel was friendly and helpful. Since we were here on Easter we were able to find a nice church nearby to attend services.

The location, the grounds, the rooms--can't imagine a better hotel value in Montgomery. We would stay here again without question.

Room Tip: When making reservations request a room that provides a view of the patio and lake. It is very nice...

Our first ever stay at a Staybridge and it will certainly not be our last if they are all like this. Our check in and check out were smooth and speedy by cheerful friendly staff who were so nice. The hotel, public areas, hallways, lift and rooms were spotless. We had a smoking room and there was no odour of smoking at all - well done to the housekeeping staff. (Also well done to the hotel for catering to smokers). We had a lovely breakfast and were helped by the lovliest lady called Nancy. If only I could have packed her in my suitcase and brought her home with me - she is so nice. We chatted to the Manager at breakfast, who took the time to see if everything was all right with his guests. The thing about this place is thet we felt wecome and valued. The staff are amongst the best I have ever come across. The chain that owns this hotel should be proud of the excellent job that is being done there. Thank you - I will certainly be back when ever in the vicinity.
