Very well kept zoo. The animals seemed happy. They had a lot of baby animals, such as the rhino and the elephant. More animals are coming too. Surely worth a trip to see.

Given the size of the city and the zoo, I was surprised at how good it was. They had lots of baby animals (rhino), helpful explanations, lots of roaming area for the animals, and some animals not often seen elsewhere (snow leopard).
I thought this zoo was very clean, the animals (monkeys in particular, especially one named John Paul) were very entertaining. I could have sat there all day just watching them. The animals all look healthy. I love the way they have them all together out on the fields like you are really in the wild. They are not all in enclosed pens per say. It is awesome!. It is an awesome experience. The best zoo in the State of Alabama. The Birmingham Zoo should take a look.
Took our 8 year old son during my wife's business trip to Montgomery. The zoo was just OK-although we had visited the St Louis Zoo in May, which is one of the best we have ever visited, which may skew our opinion.
We found the zoo to be clean, the animals seem to have good care and most had good room to roam around. It took 2 hours to tour the zoo, we did not ride the train.
The concern here is lack of security in the parking area as we were approached by homeless people begging for money and no security whatsoever in sight. The parking lot is 100% unsecure with people "roaming" around. We did not feel comfortable in this area.
Just a quick note- great zoo, of course, but the best time to go is to see the Zoo lights!
