“Interesting History and Southern Hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

The history of this building, the CSA and Jefferson Davis were fascinating and very well-presented. The guide, Mr. Henry, welcomed us warmly to the house and enthusiastically showed us all the details we might have missed. He was thrilled talk to us about the building, which really added to the experience.

Definitely stop by if you're interested in history. A great way to spend an hour or so!

“Self guided tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

This is a very good tour. There was so much history here and the self guided tour is perfect for kids with shorter attention spans. You can go at your own pace instead of listening to a tour guide that is long winded. We would have liked to look around outside, but it was pouring rain. However, we still enjoyed it and learned quite a bit.

1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

this place really was not a good place to take my family.we are of different enthinic back grounds.once we saw all the things that were done it a wonder why we still want to be proud of the awful things done in the past. the people were rude.there was hardly any parking.it would have been better just to research it online

“This gives insight into the melieu of era”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

While all of the items in the First White House of the Confederacy were interesting, the 2 things that I found intriguing were the clothes and an oil painting of Jefferson Davis and his family. Those people were unbelievably tiny. The clothes were children's sizes of today. The oil painting of Jefferson Davis and his family was hung just above the photograph from which the painting was done. In the painting, the family looked very serene and happy. But, in the photograph, they looked tense and stressed. It was very telling.

“Confederate White House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

The beautiful and stately Capitol Building brings memories of the time when it served the Confederacy. Parking was adequate and the entrance drive was wonderful.
