“Great house”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

The White House of the Confederacy is worth the trip. It is a self-guided tour with a very informative booklet. The house is very large and well presented with many original items from the Jefferson Davis family. The docents were very knowledgable and friendly. There is no charge for the tour but they do accept donations.

“Interesting History”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012 via mobile

How can you NOT like free? The gentleman who runs the place gave us a fascinating history on the home which helped guide our time here. We were a bit disappointed to hear this was not the original location but, still, did not dampen our time here. We were able to twke pictures in front of the house with the host while wearing his Confederate uniform. Our boys thought this was fun! It only takes around 15 minutes for the entire house so make sure to visit the history museum next door (also free!) to make the most of your time here.

“Highly recommended”

Very well maintained. Across from the Alabama Capitol and free entrance. One can do a self-tour of the facility with a brochure that they provide.

“History that you drive by every day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

Went with a group of 17 year olds and to the kid, they were all impressed. If you go on a day when the lady from the Czech Republic is there (Sorry, can't remember her name) talk to her about her history. She has an enthralling story to tell with some very personal stories about Civil War.
