I moved to Mobile for a promotion, and stayed in this hotel for a month while looking for a permanant residence. When I checked in, they took my credit card for incidentals, as my room was paid for by my company. Later that night, a message appeared in my voice mail. It seems they charged my card for someone else's room! A $550 charge! The refund was processed immediatly, but as this was the Friday before Memorial day, and it takes several business days to process the return, I was out the money for a week! I understand that mistakes happen, but the management was given the opportunity to make it up to me... buy me a pizza, apologize, something! I had to call my new boss at home and ask him for cash, and I hadn't met him yet!
Two days later, I returned from a day at work to find my toilet clogged with a bloody tampon. I went to the front deslk to report the problem, and they handed me a plunger! When I returned it, they told me I should ask my "female guests" to be more careful. I hadn't had one! It must have been their cleaning staff.
I was placed in the room closest to the highway, with mildew on the shower walls due to the nonworking bathroom fan. There's a police car that hovers around the building, which lends an uncomfortable air to the place. The power turns off at random, resetting your alarm clock. I spent a day off holding a pillow over my head as the fire alarm kept going off... Seriously, during my "Extended Stay" I ran across a new disaster every day. You're better off staying in a tent!
