This place was awful! There were 'hoodlums' hanging around, the room smelled, the nonsmoking room smelled like smoke. Need I say more? If you're trying to find a deal spend an extra $10 and stay somewhere else.

It was getting late, we were having trouble finding a room, and came across Family Inns of America. We had never stayed in one, but were getting a little anxious, and beyond being choosy (should we have had a choice). I cannot tell you how pleased we were with the room, and especially at the price. It was clean, attractively decorated, and very comfortable. I give it an "above average" rating because of the condition combined with price. We have stayed in less nice rooms at a much higher cost.

I was given the nastiest, stinkiest, mold ridden room one can imagine. It had suffered hurricane damage from Ivan and had been wet for days. It smelled like cat pee. The stench burnt your eyes and throat.

For no reason I was refused a refund.

I called the Mobile City police who came out and were as disgusted with the room as I was. They could not do anything as it was considered a civil not criminal case.

I slept in my truck. The folks in the room next to me had to sleep on the balcony. The staff didn't care about the fact they rented out the room knowing the condition it was in.

I was in Mobile on hurricane Ivan restoration.

I overhearde the clerk ask one of the maids "Did they not get the water out of that room?"

The place reminded me of a dirty sleazy hotel in a movie. We arrived late at night and the place looked creepy. The highlight of the place was the small overcrowded pool with people drinking and smoking into the wee hours of the night. The bathroom was dirty and the shower stall had holes in the walls. We were so disguisted we left the Family Inns after five minutes.
