“Simply good, but tough for kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

I've been to Pak Putra for two dinners in the past two years - it's our goto place if we stop in Melaka. Don't expect much from the place - hawker-style kitchen in the parking lot, brusque service and a short, really pretty boring menu. But even my mom who doesn't really like Indian food loved the tandoor offerings - chicken & naan - when we took her. I also really liked the lady fingers with potatoes. Along with a sweet lassi or two you have a pretty perfect meal.

The chicken comes with a nice dipping herb sauce and the naans with a mild dal (tadka, I think). We like all the naans and usually split a few: plain, butter sand garlic. We prefer dark meat, but either is brimming with flavor and tenderness.

Although they purport that two of their dishes are kid-friendly, we tried both but my daughter could only eat the naan on its own. She did like the lassi though!

We will continue to swing by as long as the tandoor chef delivers.
Prefer this over chicken rice balls.

“God's naan gift to mankind”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

Well yes we got a bit lost trying to find this place. That aside, when we reached ordered butter and garlic naan, tandoori and butter chicken masala. The chicken arrived and the first bite made all the effort reaching there so worth it. Chicken was spicy, tasty and the blend was excellent. Was cool watching them made the naan and chicken in this furnace oven. Everything was so good!

Dear dudes, if you're up at Malacca with your girl, bring her there. Way chill out door street dining. Grab some ace tandooris which is ace, then take her for a walk down the river which is 5 min from there. It's perfect. Trust me, I did it.

“Great naans”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

We went by the restaurant on a weekend evening for dinner. The restaurant is a double-shop size that can sit a lot of patrons, and there is more seating outside at the car park lots in front too. Our order was taken promptly, with the actual food arriving about 10 minutes later. The restaurant is spartan and functional but pretty clean and brightly lit on the inside.

We ordered three Naans: a garlic/butter, an onion, and a double-cheese. The Naans come with their own gravy, but we added a Tandoori chicken, a mild mutton daal, and a large mango Lassi. The Tandoori chicken was barbequed well on the outside though small bits of it were still a little bloody. Its meat was succulent with strong flavor and a slight tinge of chili. The mutton daal on the other hand was just prefect; thick, lots of spices, and generous in its helping. The mutton dip was so good we just ignored that accompanying Naan dip altogether.

The bill came to around MY$33; slightly pricier than the other Indian fare we’ve had in Melaka but worth every cent. This is a must-visit for lovers of Indian food.
