“Last Minute Booking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2014

Stayed here very last minute while on a road trip up the West Coast of Malaysia. Probably wouldn't have been my first choice but the staff were friendly, the location was very good and the rooms comfortable enough. To be honest you're in Melaka so anywhere feels charming as the place itself is so lovely. Hotel was good, but nothing to write home about. Would I book it in advance to stay, probably not, but if I was driving through and needed a place to kip wouldn't hesitate.

We stayed at this hotel during our april malayasian tour .Starting from the check in staff made us uneasy.First of all they wanted a extra deposit even though I paid for our whole stay with money . When we went for the breakfast there was a notice saying that if you waste food you will be charged which made my kids really frightened.
The hotel staff was alright but they were very keen on applying these rules all the time .
To be fair with them I must say rooms were comfortable and clean and the breakfast buffet is reasonable.
But I wholeheartedly advise you not to go to this hotel as you will be uneasy in your mind especially if you have kids
If you go to this hotel pls don't book rrooms starting with 10 because they don't have a lift to those rooms and you will have to carry all your lauggage using the stair case

Room Tip: don't stay in this hotel especially in mezzanine floor as there are no lifts to that floor

this hotel is fortunate for the food nearby, but if you are all tired over a night of walking to and fro jonker...... i think you should refrain from this hotel. the sound insulation is very bad. i have no opinion on the mosque next door, but you can almost feel like you are involve with the renovation work (moving mattresses )and party next door or upstairs at 2300hrs.

i always recommend this to friends and now i think i have to think twice.

food wise, i never thought of the breakfast as a main attraction. if you are living this close to chicken rice, cuttlefish, cockles, roast meat, dimsum , roti chennai, it does not really matter. you could just go for the nearby eateries and experience melaka.

if a hotel could not provide the basics of a good night sleep, whats its for? it still leaves my pondering.

Room Tip: good hotel if you are those who can fall asleep quickly

My wife and I arrived on Valentine's Day. The hotel brochure and professional photos promised 1) elegantly furnished, 2) well-appointed spacious rooms with 3) modern facilities and a 4)spectacular view of Chinatown.
Here is the reality:
1) basic and very cheap furniture
2) small rooms shown to me after first complaint
3) charge for tea bag and sugar
4) One room faced garbage piles below window, the other room faced a slum.
The security chain was broken from an attempt to enter and not yet replaced.
We were so disappointed with the false promises and disgusted when told they had only recently remodelled the hotel - we did NOT stay.
Suggestion: You can find better accommodation at less than half this price in the neighborhood.

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel altogether.

actually I had been using this hotel whenever I visit Malacca for many years, due to its value and location. My recent visit there is a bit disappointing, mainly due to following,
- no in room safe provided,
- charge RM5 for extra set of Lipton tea sachets and sugar,
- TV channels is pathetic.
- bed side lamp is broken but nobody notice.
- paid S$ 70 for abovementioned Deluxe room not worth it anymore, because there are now more hotel choices in Malacca compare to last time.
Breakfast varieties still didn't change after all these years, fried rice, fried noodles, toast, congee, don't expect too much. Ironically, we ate at one roti canai shop just down the road(right hand side of hotel) which serve quite good roti canai(or roti prata). Can go there for bf if tired of the hotel's bf.

Room Tip: rooms at the first floor is not accessible by lift, either walk up half floor. or walk down half flo...

had been staying here for 2 nights from 9 to 11th Jan, there are good and not-so-good thing:

The good thing:
Check-in and check out is swift
Staff is very friendly and helpful
The bathroom is very clean and modern looking:)
The building itself is easily seen even in dark nights
WIFI speed is good

The not-so-good thing:
Walls are not sound-proof, you can heard people in next room talking
It is not very near to Jonker street as it was stated, it took about 15-20mins walk and the path can be quite dark after 9:30pm.
Hair-dryer only provided upon requested.

We saw quite a number of hotels/home-stay offering at lower price along our way back from Jonker to hotel. If you're looking for something like bed & breakfast, there's a wide option that is below RM70 (we booked at about RM140/night). But if you're very particular in bathroom cleanliness and staff attentivity, it is actually worth the money (and the walk) :D

p/s: we found a place at the same side of the road as our hotel, less than 5mins walk, which is selling fantastic char-siew rice during lunch time. the customers there were mainly locals:)
