“A little over-hyped and/or overrated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

A mix of antique shops (some of which were quite good; others not so much), restaurants and crassly manufactured souvenirs. That said, I was not able to see it at night or on the weekend when it apparently becomes quite lively.

“Authentic Nonya streets with treasures amongst the alley”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

Nice authentic streets which house some treasures within.
Lots of small eateries especially the nonya satays, Mee sua (nice Noodles soup) Durian Chendols are just some of the treats you want to try.
Shopping: Lots of small boutiques that sells nice trendy clothings and souvenirs.
Old heritage buildings: For photographers which wishes to take nice photos.
Overall: Good area to spend most of the afternoon. Able to eat your way around if you know where to find nice food. Locals are friendly and will recommend if you ask them what is nice. Word of caution: can be very hot and need to wear clothings that are cool. A hat would be highly recommended.

“Bustling old town.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

Great old town area. Take care on the roads as the cars and trucks don't. Plenty of great antique shops to have a look around.

“Pleasant walkabout for souvenirs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

Started the walk from the front and the first shop sold all things durian....as we were durian lovers enjoyed the pastries and most of all the durian flavoured ice cream.

Walked down to the many souvenir shops which sold many different souvenirs and one that was memorable was the Puri Padi that was in a quiet world of its own. If you did not look carefully you would just walk by it. It was an oasis by itself.

“Value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

Great place to hunt & bargain for stuff.
You can also pick up a few souvenir here at reasonable price.
The food is cheap & taste better at the night market.
My fave foods are nyonya laksa, asam laksa, portuguese grilled clams & fried chicken wing (spicy).
My trip would be incomplete without these.
