“Worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

If you want to know a bit of the culture, this is worth a visit since they offer a variety-- from the local foods, local decors, to souvenirs, to fad, to almost everything. Must try to get there at the daytime and night time. Daytime you can find a lot from the shops then nighttime offers more, with a lot of sidewalk vendors you can haggle to. However, you can't expect a lot discount from them (since this is a known one of the tourist destination).

Best time to visit I think was the time when we get there, Chinese New Year. This street is very busy and very happy to get in. :)

“Nice night market”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

It's a nice night marker, with lots of nice food, goodies and can even see talented people sing and dance near the pubs. The place is quite safe to travel even at very late night. A must to visit if you go Malacca. Problem is not easy to find carpark.

“Touristy street”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

Quite a nice walk down the street. Things sold are touristy. Tried the famous assam laksa in the middle of the street, the taste is not authentic.

“mix of culture and souvenir shops”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

Heritage site very nice, but overcrowded with souvenir shops. Nice littel restaurants - keep looking in streets nearby.

“Melaka Local Flea Market”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

Jonker Street is Melaka's local flea market. It is situated right in the prime area near the Melaka River where one can opt for a river cruise in the evening. You can start your day in the morining taking a leisurely stroll along its narrow street. The name itself is Dutch in origin. There are lots of ancient buildings and antique shops to browse around.Local food abounds everywhere. The street is about half a mile long and there is everything for the young and old.It is busiest during the weekend where the street is closed to traffic.tThe atmosphere at night is alluring to tourist making it a must for tourists. There are a few good spots for drinks where you can enjoy the music and songs by local singers and bands. The night goes on until early morning. If you have not here then you have not REALLY been to Melaka! Shopping here is done after a lot of haggling and bargaining. There are lots of bargain hotels and foot spas too.
