The construction of the building is fascinating - and then there's the museum - and it here we think an opportunity is lost. We think the Stadthuys should concentrate on recreating the Dutch colonial administration as it was then ( not mixing the two). We wanted to know about the buildings construction, the thickness of the flooring planks, the type of furnishings, the way the rooms were used, examples of judgements that were made (particularly those that had a great impact on local people) etc. A suggestion: retain and restore as much of colonial history as possible - it helps one better remember (especially future generations) and celebrate the present.
