“Souvenirs”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012 via mobile

It has nothing to do with the real China Town. It's just a long row of souvenir shops which sell everything and many of these things have even nothing to do with the city or China. It's definitely made for tourists. If you head to the northen part of the district you'll get a better piece of China Town. Generally the whole city seems to be made for tourists.

“You must know where to go”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

The northern part of China Town is the most authentic place, you still can see the traditional craftsmen and food stalls, families for generations still live here, all are very friendly and love to get on your private photo snapshots.
Avoid the southen part: Joncker and Heeren Street.
The traffic should be banned as well the parking because pedestrians have no space to wander around but have to watch not being hit by a car all the time.
For a World Heritage Site it is a huge failure from the local authorities that nothing has been changed yet.

“Fun, busy and vibrant. Great at night.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

China town in Melaka is lovely. The streets are small and at night alight with Chinese lanterns. There are all sorts of shops and places to eat and drink and it is really vibrant and busy.

“Just another Chinatown”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

peddlers selling food and wares - nothing exceptional that you can't find in other towns & cities across Malaysia. but locating it within the 'old' city might make it feels 'fun and adventurous'
