I spent a night here at the insistence of my wife as the hotel was offering a 119 nett per night rate.
Was told all sorts of nice things like a great water park for the kid, and comfy rooms. So I went for it since I had nothing else better to do .
Boy did I regret it. And so did my wife after we experienced our short stay. Of course I rate it poor and not terrible because there are a few good points about this joint. And very few indeed.
First the good stuff:
1.) Check in was 3pm, but since we arrived early at 1.00 pm the front desk very nicely got us settled in a matter of minutes.
2.) Bell boy service was there to get our luggage. Excellent.
3.) Room was clean , but very spartan.
4.) Toilet /bathroom acceptable.
5.) The water park was big, and of course the little one enjoyed it immensely.
6.) Room was well air conditioned.
Now the bad stuff
1.) Housekeeping definitely needs to get their eyes checked. Toilet bowl had remnants of either semen or urine or menstrual remains on the toilet seat. Wife had a fit when she saw it, so we had to drag the cleaner in to clean it up. I mean , really, you're running a hotel aren't you? I've stayed in dodgy hotels that double as bordellos and their toilets are alway spotless when I checked in.
2.) No bottled water. Quite a surprise as the last time I stayed in a hotel, which was last month, bottled water was always provided. I guess not enough budget after all that extensive renovation?
3.) Professionalism of the front desk needs a bit of polishing. When we asked for bottled water, the female staff replied "huh?" . I was expecting a bit more polish, fortunately a more experienced staff was there but of course by then we knew we are expected to boil our own water or risk diarrhea by drinking it direct from the tap.
4.) The water park needs more shaded areas for the guests. Not all of us have sun toughened skins especially the little ones. Imagine playing at the poolside in 33 degrees C heat. Unless of course you intend to have visitors come out only after 5pm when the sun sets.
5.) Very little in the way of anything else entertaining. Once the pool closes at 7pm, there's nothing to do at this hotel.
6.) Food wise, also nothing much to shout about, Mousaka was on offer at the coffee house, but no one seems to want to eat there. There were busloads of Mainland Chinese coming and going, but lunch and breakfast strangely no one at the coffee house so I didn't take the risk of being dissapointed at the coffee house.
7.) RM20 to pedal a tricycle around the water park where the distance is less than 400 meters end to end. Not worth it.
8.) Lots of construction work going on. We're talking major building projects, and smack in the middle of it all, a resort. Now what's wrong with this picture? Can you imagine cooling off in a nice pool and you have strange looking foreign workers gawking at you as they work on their projects?
Overall on a scale of 1 to10, with 1 being the worst , I give this place a 3. Bayou Lagoon still has a long way to go if it wants to be worth talking about. It's basically in the middle of the boondocks in Bukit Katil , Melaka with no attractions around it. The management needs to bring up more attractions for its guest. Just the water park alone will not ensure the long term life expectancy of the resort. Unless it wants to go bankrupt as Malacca Water City did which is just next door.

Pursuant to your comments on evening entertainment, we are in actual fact in

The construction site that was mentioned in your comment is about 150
metres away from our water park, and therefore, our guests would not feel
being intruded upon. In addition, the site is already with building walls
and 90% of the workers are doing work inside the building. We, as the
management have provided strict guidelines to the building contractor before
the construction of the building to respect the privacy of our guests. I
trust this would not only ameliorate your concern but the concern of others
Pursuant to the RM 20 pedal tricyle that was mentioned, we would like to
inform that the rate is actually RM 10.00. As the Trike Bike is a low base,
3-wheeled bicycle, its function is similar to the recumbent rower which
helps to improve one's cardio and therefore the small distant has been
designed for recreational users.
