My family of 7 spent 2 nights at the A-Farmosa Malacca resort during the Dec holidays. The experience was totally dissappointing. We had chosen to stay in the villa, and the minute we checked in, most of the things in the house were not functioning properly! The phone was not working, the aircon remote control was spoilt & the ac in the master bedroom was not working, the main door lock was faulty, the in-room safe could not be opened, the kitchen floor was stained with rusty water, the in-door water feature was dried up and coated with dust & dirt ... Since the phone was not working, we had to use our overseas cellphone to call the resort main line, and was subsequently transferred to the Villa section. The line was however cut-off a couple of times, and it took us quite a while to finally have a proper conversation with the resort main desk. After explaining the unacceptable conditions of the house, they said to send someone to help us. We waited and waited, no one turned up. The fact that the main door lock was faulty & the phone line was not working meant that we could not even leave the house, or called for shuttle service/help!! We tried to call the main desk again (yes, using our own phones which result in IDD charges!), and finally someone came to our rescue, so we thought. This person was not able to do much - phone line continued to be down (in fact throughout our stay), the safe was non repairable (they had to bring a portable one - talked about safety!), nothing can be done to the aircon. He only managed to fix the door lock, and a cleaner came to mop the kitchen floor. That's how we started the holidays - disastrous!
Throughout the stay, we have to compromise with the bad conditions in the Villa (according to the hotel reception - no other villas, condotel, hotel etc were available so we had to stay put), used our phones to call for shuttles or any enquries which resulted in loads of IDD charges, and suffered from the bad services in other parts of the resort too.
If you think this was bad enough, no yet. The encounter we had while having lunch at the food court of the Animal Farm was far worst. We placed our order at the payment counter, and was then instructed to join another queue for the food. So we did, and was told very rudely by this Indian lady that they had run out of those food that we ordered. Either we accept what was "left-over" or wait for the food to come. The "left-over" was not suitable for my young children so we choose to wait. After waiting for almost 30mins (and the queue had gotton longer, with an angry crowd too), we asked the lady what's next and she again rudely went into the kitchen and brought us a few pack of food (cold & hard, and not what we had ordered), asking "You want? If not, you continue to wait!". We were furious with what we were getting (food and attitude) after a 30 mins wait, and demanded a refund instead. She was mad, and asked another Indian man to talk to us. The man came to my husband and said "You take back the money and go away now!". We asked them for their names (they have no name tags) and the man was getting aggressive and repeated to ask us "go away!". We were fortunate that the counter staff did refund the money, and quickly left after that. Can you believe this can happened in a resort theme park? My family and I travel frequently and we have never in our life encounter with such disastrous experience!
Needless to say, the rest of the stay was meaningless and we just wish that we could get out of the resort asap. We left after 2 nights of sufferrings, and thereafter stayed at the Renaissance hotel Meleka for a night. The stay at Renaissance hotel was satisfactory, especially after the nightmare at the A Farmosa Resort!
I really urged for the A Farmosa management to look into these issues - conditions of the accomodation, conduct of the service staffs, food quality etc. To the rest, please think thrice (twice is not enough) if you intend to spend your next holiday in this resort. Take care.
