“Great for weekend getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

My husband and I stayed at the Majestic over a weekend in 2012 in a standard room to met up with one of our business partners and do some sightseeing in Melacca. We had a great time and really enjoyed our stay in this small, colonial-style hotel. Probably one of the better hotels in Melacca! However, there is room for improvement when it comes to the breakfast (choices were quite limited). Traffic is a nightmare but it is OK to walk from the hotel down to the city center.
Would absolutely stay there again. Recommended for anyone visiting Melacca for a few days.

We stayed here for our honeymoon for 3 nights in April 2013. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but... It was beautiful in a british Colonial way. The lobby area downstairs has a bar, library and sitting rooms complete with luxurious books and lolly jars everywhere. The restaurant is upstairs in the same building. Breakfast was excellent. It wasn't buffet style but you could order as you wanted off the menu. We stayed in the basic room which was quite sufficient. The clawed bath tub was probably the high light as it got filled up with bubbles and red rose petals each night and local desserts left on the coffee table. It was these little things that made this a 5 star hotel.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was an easy10-15 walk into the centre of town. The night market on the weekend is excellent!

Room Tip: All rooms look out over Malacca so I cant imagine any would be worse than others.

Stayed here last weekend with my lovely wife
As I walked into the hotel, it gv me an impression of walking into an old Baba Nyonya house
The staff made every effort to make our stay pleasant
They were always attentive to our needs/calls and catered us in every aspect possible
The room was Truely Majestic
Just awesome. It was spacious, clean and the way they was incorporated the bathroom was amazing. The view fr the room was not great, but that surely can be overlooked.
Located in the town and its easily accessable to other spots in town.
Enjoyed our stay here and surely will be back...

Myself and my husband have just returned from Melaka where we spent two nights in The Majestic.

Arrival:
We were shown to seats in the lobby and given a cool towel, and offered a welcome drink - this seemed a nice touch as we had arrived at 2pm, (an hour before official check in), and presumed our room wasn't ready. In fact, it was, and we were charged for the cool drinks at check out. Seems a bit mean given we went onto have dinner in the hotel and spent 454RM at the spa...and especially when we were then served tea when taken up to our room. A map was provided and a talk about the local area which was very informative and useful.

Room:
Our room itself was lovely, spotlessly clean and very spacious. Bed huge and really comfortable. However, the soundproofing is dreadful. From the rooms next door we heard hairdryers, the bath being run and well into the early hours doors being continually opened and banged closed, coming from along the corridor.

Breakfast:
Breakfast was average (included in our room rate), which consisted of a choice of 3 cereals and fresh fruit, yogurt and pastries. There was a hot menu which we ordered from, on the first day we sent our boiled eggs back as they were still completely liquid (although this may have been our fault as we requested yolks runny). They were changed without any hassle to hard boiled, but were still really underdone.

Dinner:
On the first night we decided to eat in the hotel for dinner and there was much confusion at reception as to which menu was actually available. The food was so-so.

Spa:
We visited the spa for a balinese and swedish massage and it was a lovely experience, although much more expensive than local places.

Pool:
Small but adequate and very clean.

Wifi:
Annoyingly, only available in the lobby and not in the rooms - for the room rate this seems really strange. There is a free connection the room but this is useless for iPad and iPhone.

Staff:
All really friendly but not overly knowledgeable about the hotel amenities - we asked if there were any movies to borrow for the DVD player in the room and the chap at the door (who offered to assist us) didn't know. The girl on the front desk then told us there aren't. Also...there seem to be too many staff at the front door!

It was a good break away from home, and overall a nice place to stay - could be a great place with better breakfast and less noise!

Together with my family we have been traveling to Melaka rather frequent. This is by far the best and most memorable. Why? The Majestic Melaka. They have an awesome service and very rich history within the property.

Baba Nyonya experience indeed is what me and my family had received. Well done team over at The Majestic Melaka. Both my children, my wife and I are extremely pleased with the property and services.

Not to mention, quality of food in the restaurant is excellent. My girl is still craving for those angel hair pasta.

Thank you.

Staff was attentive but probably overstaffed. There were at least 2 staff, sometimes 3 just to open the front door when I walked in and out of the hotel. And at least 4 staff lined up to personally greet me when I came in the hotel. A bit much.. But then when i checked in, i had to wait because there was only one overworked lady at the front desk.

Hotel breakfast was okay but limited selection and monotonous after a few days. Not much around the hotel except other hotels and very "local" restaurants - all Chinese and Malay.

Main hotel is 100yrs old and has kept its charm. Rooms also charming (Claw foot bath) and spacious, bed comfortable, large bath.

Wired internet in room was good but wifi only in the lobby (needed for iphone).

Pool is very small. Bar is also small - just a small area in the lobby with 8 or so bar stools.

This hotel is okay for a few days, staff is nice but gets boring after a few days. Especially good for those who like nostalgic furniture and decor).

The Majestic Malacca in YTLs chain of hotels is my favourite in Malacca; and the more I visit it ,the more I grow to love its peace and comfort. It lives up to my expectations in every sense of the word; and I really look forward to staying there every time I pass Malacca or have to go to Malacca - be it to attend a conference or go for a weekend break away from the mad rush of the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, or attend a religious festival in this historic city, and also my hometown where I grew up and spent the growing teenage years.

I was at The Majestic Malacca a year ago on a religious mission and was back again for the same annual religious occasion. And, of course , The Majestic Malacca , was my choice again and this time I had two rooms one for my son and his family. When we stay at The Majestic Malacca, my husband and I go for the Majestic Suite , on the top floor. If you are looking for a real quiet ambience and love space then go for this suite. It is really peaceful and quiet here and we love its space and the huge bathroom especially the bath tub, in the corner of the room .

From the moment we called the hotel to reserve two rooms, the receptionist and Vinud himself handled the booking with great ease. The check in was managed well despite this classic UNESCO heritage list hotel having full house. My son and family liked the renovated historic house , the small pool which was functional, the nyonya styled deco and the cleanliness of the entire hotel.

Ben Quah , the hotel manager made an extra effort to meet us, repeated loyal guests of The Majestic Malacca , and mingle with the many guests that day we were there. The ever cheerful Vinud 's dedication and devotion to work is exemplary and we would like to thank him and his entire team for the ever willing service with a smile during our stay there.

Why is The Majestic Malacca extraordinary compared to the many hotels in Malacca? Is it the nyonya deco? The spacious rooms and comfortable beds? The daybed? The breakfast? Yes these and more - the service that the well-trained staff give us ,the hotel guests, plus attention to little details . The location - it being near Jonker Sreet - is another plus factor. The river cruise just adjacent to it.All these goes to make The Majestic Malacca one of the best hotels in Malaysia and the best in Malacca. I shall come back next year at the same time for the same religious ceremony.

Room Tip: Go for the Majestc Suite on the topmost floor. It's out of the world.
