“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2014

Stayed for 2 nights in April.

Hotel is no frills, but does include 2 tv's in each room & is a very reasonable price.
The location is excellent. Walking distance to Historical & Heritage tourist attractions and adjoining 2 shopping malls by linked bridge.
Concierge is very helpful.
Spa is a very good experience. Had a facial & massage (walked in without a booking, and they were able to accommodate our request) and found it to be very professional and relaxing. Good ambience and very good value.

Included buffet breakfast has good variety. We also tried the steamboat dinner buffet and enjoyed the variety of items on offer.

Stayed here on a friday night in a junior suite. Many reviewers claimed that it is a big/spacious room. To me, it is of a standard-sized room. It is classified as a junior suite simply because the hotel room has a separate living-sitting area (not a separate room) attached to a bedroom. This hotel is located in a strategic location, closed to most major attractions. However, I think they really need some improvements. Check-in was pretty quick. Receptionist weren't exactly friendly. When we entered the room, we found less than half of a roll of toilet paper left. Called housekeeping and they said they will get us some. After about 25 mins, still no sign of my toilet paper. Called housekeeping second time, it was connected to a fax machine (based on the tone). Tried calling again and again and finally somebody answered the phone. This time they promised that toilet paper is on its way. Fair enough, my toilet paper arrived in 5 minutes. After a long day out on the streets, we came back to the room at 11.30pm and had our shower. Head on to use the hair dryer and it was not working. Called housekeeping and it kept connecting me to a fax machine AGAIN! Called the reception and they said housekeeping was closed. Told the guy my hair dryer wasn't working and he said he will send someone over with another hair dryer. About 15 minutes later, a lady called and said this "Sorry ma'am, we are running on high capacity tonight and we do not have extra hair dryers for you. Can you wait till tomorrow morning? I'll send you a hair dryer tomorrow morning!" A 22-TOWER HIGH BUSINESS CLASS HOTEL CANNOT GET ME A HAIR DRYER! And for those with common-sense, my hair is soaking wet now and you are offering me a hair dryer in the morning? Ladies, please feel me. I have thick long hair up to my waist. It was an hour past midnight and I need to air-dry my hair before hitting the sack! LONG DAY!! And breakfast… Fruit flies were all over the fruits and cold cuts area. But overall the buffet spread was okay. Upon checking out, no apology was given despite our dissatisfaction with the service. You judge!

If you have zero expectations of service and just want a decent room that is strategically located, I'd recommend Hatten to you.

Hatten is conveniently located right in the heart of the city and the UNESCO Historical and Heritage sites along with shopping and major businesses all within close proximity. Hatten is connected via link bridge to Mahkota Parade and close to Dataran Pahlawan. Approximately 10mins walk to the famous Jonker Street. Worth popping by at night. 5 mins walk to the row of shop-houses along Jalan Merdeka. Many massage parlors (for eg. Scents & Senses) and authentic peranakan food near Fenix Inn (for eg. Banya Restaurant.)

The official check-in time based on my hotel booking was 3pm. After queuing for 15mins at the front desk for my turn to check-in (345pm by then), I was informed by the nonchalant guy at the front desk that my room was not ready yet. Simply told me to come back again in an hour or two. I finally got my room at 6ish. Room was spacious and pretty comfortable. A pretty good night's rest. The breakfast was functional.

Had stayed here for 1 night over the Vesak Day weekend. Hotel was fully booked that day as many Singaporeans took the long weekend opportunity to head to Malaysia.

Location wise, this hotel is in a good location, well connected to the major shopping malls surrounding it. For those who are driving, do note that the hotel shares the same carpark as the shopping mall, so it might get a bit crowded. One advice is to drive up to the 3rd floor onwards, that is where the hotel lifts starts. Parking is complimentary for hotel guests, just collect the parking ticket at the carpark gantry and have it verified at the lobby, do not use the Touch n Go card to enter the carpark.

Room was very spacious and comfortable with 2 TVs. I had a room on a lower floor facing the sea. However, traffic noise could be heard late into the night from those illegal street racing. Perhaps replacing the windows to double glazed type would solve the problem.

Hotel staff were generally polite and helpful. This hotel provides free shuttle service to Jonker Street. However, the frequency is very infrequent and each trip can take only about 10 pax using the hotel mini van. So my advice is to book early at the Concierge if you wish to use this service. The other option is to walk ~15mins or find a cab if you are lucky enough to find one in Melaka.

Went for breakfast at 830am the next morning. By then, the main restaurant was fully packed and the hotel staff opened the function room next door to accommodate the ever increasing hungry guests. This was a good gesture on the hotel's part to prevent long queues during breakfast. The function room had its own buffet line. Unfortunately, with a function room packed with at least 300 people and only 1 buffet line, it means 30mins wait at the omelette station and food running out fast and not replenished quick enough. Quality of the breakfast items was very disappointing as well, I would rate it as one of the worst I had at a 4 star hotel in Malaysia.

Waiting for the lifts at this hotel was a nightmare. Situation got worse in the morning during breakfast and during checkouts. Fed up with the long wait, I had even resorted to using the stairs. Perhaps management can consider to program the lifts to bypass all floors until the ground lobby once it sensed that the lift car is full instead of stopping at every single floor with people trying to squeeze in.

Apart from these inconveniences, I will still consider to stay here again next time because of its good location.

The hotel is very conveniently located in the city centre, and in between 2 major shopping malls which they have links via a bridge. It is a huge hotel, clean rooms, comfortable beds, and each rooms has 2 TVs. 1 TV is at the sofa/pantry area. The sofa is comfortable enough for my 8 yr old son to sleep at night, so we didn't order for an extra bed, and he likes it there as well! The air con doesn't cool in the day, so you have to set the temperature really low to get some cool air if you are lucky. At night, this is not a problem. It is cold as it should be. The pool is big, but it could be crowded with too many people. The spa is nice, very reasonable price. I had a facial and a massage. The breakfast spread is fantastic and overall our family love our stay here. We hope you maintain to be this good, unlike other similar 4 star hotels around the area which fail to keep their standard.

Room Tip: Request for rooms with view. And some rooms has air con which are not that cooling, in the day at l...

Stayed in this hotel during my short trip to Melaka. A pleasant and fast check in to the hotel. Booked the Junior Deluxe Suite and it was a quite a big room with King size bed, separate sofa area and working table. The hotel is located at the centre of Melaka Raya which is easy to walk around (walking distance to shopping mall, taming sari, food court, convenient shop). The breakfast spread in the hotel is good (lots of choices from local delights to american breakfast style).

The rooms are like mini suites and very spacious. Check in was a breeze probably we were slightly ahead before a large group came in, forming a very long check in queue. Breakfast variety was okay, but they can do better at refilling the buffet stations quicker. The kids pool is very small and often crowded. However, we like the location as it has linked walkways to the malls nearby, Jonker street is only 10-15 minutes walk away.
