5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

we stayed one night in hatten hotel melaka. 2 adults n 3 kids checked into 2 deluxe suite rooms. we reached the hotel at about 11am. Paul was in charge for registering us. He told us that rooms were not ready but, he will put us on connecting room basis. He said once housekeeping done, he will give us a call. At about 2pm, we try our luck n was told that our rooms were ready. We had room 1943 n 1944. Twin beds in both rooms were comfy and pillows were super soft which my kids like. 1 day bed in a small living room that could sleep an adult with less than 5 ft or a young children. 2 Lcd tv in a room each.
Toilet and shower, unfortunately has no hanger to hang wet swimming clothing.
Breakfast has roti canai station, waffer station, egg station, noodles cooking station. Salad, chinese vegi pau/bun, porridge, oak, fresh yogurt, canned mixed fruits, breads, nasi lemak. Out of all the foods, i think curry chicken n rendang taste delicious.
Overrall, the rate is cheaper than other hotel and everything is new which deserve to be stayed if you like shopping in melaka.

After reading all the reviews, I had mixed feelings about staying here. However I took the risk and I'm glad I did albeit a few hiccups. Firstly, I had to call a few times to the hotel to book as no one picked up the phone. This is the first time I've come across a hotel where no one picks up the phone. Secondly, I think the management should do something about the housekeeping staff cleaning the room. Despite putting on the sign to clean the room, no one came until 6pm! And that was only after we told them when they were cleaning a room nearby. Having read about the housekeeping shoddy job, my husband waited inside the room while they were cleaning to see that they did a good job. The housekeeping staff consists mainly of young foreign men and according to my husband, they were not well trained. However, when we called to ask for toiletries, they were quite prompt.
Frankly speaking, this hotel is clean, pleasant and comfortable. The bathroom is clean which is my biggest concern when I stay in any hotel. Although the glass panel divider makes the room small, I kinda liked it cos it gives you some space when you want to watch tv or having a sip of coffee. There are many restaurants and bar around the hotel so eating and entertainment are not of a problem.
The difference between the junior suite and deluxe suite is the latter faces the city and sea while the other faces the pool. I was told by the reservation staff that the size of these 2 rooms is the same but according to the hotel website, it is not.
As a conclusion, this hotel is worth staying for the time being. Unless the management improves on the housekeeping, I wouldn't want to stay in this hotel in 2 years time!

We arrived late so check in was a breeze. We were there surfing the Singapore school holidays season as well. Pleasant and good quality front office staffs.

Room is small because of the way it is laid out. We stayed in the suite on the executive floor but besides calling it a different name I couldn't understand what is he difference. Good thing is the hotel is relatively new, so kettle and other equipments are clean. tV remote didn't work even after they sent a second unit.

Housekeeping and in room dining service sucks big time. Took one hour to bring extra towels and the guy doing the running should be sacked. He looks like somebody had pointed a gun to his head forcing him to do this. In room dining took 1hour to deliver order and never called to inform of delay. Order was not that accurate but food was decent. Tray was not picked up even by the time we checked out. Compared with Equatorial where their housekeeping section is always responsive and everything delivered by 10 mins, this Hatten housekeeping service is definitely horrible.

Will I stay there again? Probably only if I don't travel with my family and young kid. Otherwise Equatorial is always a safe bet, and they have wifi now in rooms. I can't believe a new hotel such as Hatten, does not have wifi in the room.

This hotel is a relatively new and huge one that has somewhat stylish-looking rooms but poor service. It is geared towards tour groups and big families with children. I was there during Chinese New Year, and the property was extremely busy with mainland Chinese tour groups and families. The staff did not seem to care about their hotel guests, but this could be emblematic of the typically poor service amongst the mid to lower-tier Malaysian hotel and other service providers.

The location is not too central, but the walk is tolerable (10 to 15-minute) to Jonker Street. I was not able to check into my room till after 4pm. Housekeeping was perfunctory. Bathroom toiletries were of poor quality. The room was of average size, but the strange thing is that they put a glass divider between the bed and the entrance hallway, which has a sofa and a wall-mounted TV - this was a baffling misuse of space, but I think they did this in order to call their room "suite rooms", although in reality it created useless space in the room.

Their beakfast buffet was of poor quality, with limited fresh fruit and vegetarian selection and generally poor, uncaring service. The one pro was that the restaurant was big enough to handle the crowds in terms of seating.

I wouldn't stay at this hotel again. There are much better choices in this price range in Melaka.

Spent 1 night in Malacca, en-route to KL. Checked into this hotel at 3.30pm. Check in, like previously mentioned by others, was a bit slow. Whole process took about half an hour. Otherwise, very happy with the hotel. Hotel new and tastefully decorated lobby, swimming pool very nice & pleasant, spa cost reasonable at RM90 per hour. Breakfast spread good 630am-1030am with a lot of variety.

Wifi are available at the lobby and swimming pool as well. Must say that we're very happy with our room, which was on 13th floor, overlooking the pool. Due to our close proximity to the pool, we also had free wifi in our room :)

Location of the hotel is excellent! Link bridge to Makota Shopping Mall (for Giant & Parkson), and Palawan MegaMall for lots of dinning options. Also within walking distance to Meleka historical site & Jonker Street. Took us about 10 mins for a leisurely stroll. On our way back, rode a trishaw from Jonker street for RM20, An exciting experience as the trishaw rider had to cut across 6 lanes to reach the hotel!! :z

One last thing is that parking ticket had to be validated and leave the hotel within half an hour...

Room Tip: My room with wifi from the pool was 1369 :p

We stayed at Hatten on 16 - 18 Mar 13. As it was school holiday in Singapore, we foresee that the hotel will be crowded. Hence, when we check in at 2pm, we expected that the room will not be avaliable. After the check in procedures, we informed the staff the we will return around 4pm and she assured us that the room will be ready by then. We return 15 min past 4pm and the same staff announced that the room is still not ready. We expressed our dissactisfaction and she check further, and finally, release the room key to us. As we had booked a Deluxe Suite with extra bed for our child, we reminded the staff to inform housekeeping to set up the bed. We saw her taking down our request.
Unfortunately, when we returned to the hotel at 9.30pm after our dinner and sightseeing, we found the extra bed still not set up. Unhappy, we called the housekeeping. The bed was sent almost immediately. However, the housekeeping just literally dump the bed at the door and left without a word!
we had to move the bed to the appropriate position and made up the bed!
Next, we called to ask for extra pillow for our child and the housekeeping inform us that they run out of pillow. This is equivalent to McDonald informing their customers that they run out of burgers!
The housekeeping were not done up to mark. We found strands of hair when we unfold the door mat (definitely not our hair since it was supposedly freshly laundried). There were no face and hand towels in our room and no beverages in the fridge. The latch at our main door could not latch on, hence we were worried about intruders.
Also, the breakfast was another horrendous experience, the queue to get into to cafe was snaking long. The crowd around the entire cafe and buffet counter really put all appetite off. The food were mediocre. The service standar were sluggish. And one last thing, the lifts take forever to arrive!
Overall, this hotel is not equipped and not well staff to handle the number of rooms and guests it has. I would say this is my worst experience in our many trips to Malacca.
I'll definitely recommend Casa Del Rio to anyone, which we had a wonderful experience. Overall Hatten is the worse hotel in Malacca, in all aspects!

Room Tip: I suggest Casa Del Rio. Or any of the boutique hotels at Heeren, which has much more characters and...
