“Not per as expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

By looking at the site for this hotel location is good and rooms looks nice too. But in actual the room is not as good per expected and perhaps it need a renovation as we can see the wall paint is shedding and window curtain is not long enough to cover the window screen when in the morning and afternoon the sun was shinning in strongly that we thought the air con is not working. The view was good and can be a better stay if there is a touch up and maintenance on it.

Room Tip: Corner rooms might be spacious but the direction towards sun might be too glaring and warm to stay i...

I stayed in this property during Chinese New Year(peak period), so delay in check in and room service was expected and I am not complaining about it at all. Below are few not so good experiences, I had gone through at this property:
1) At the check in, I was given the RF card to activate the power in the room (they still have manual locks), but it didn't work, when I contacted the reception, another staff told me, the card given me to was not the one that would have activated power and gave a different card to me, Check in is something the staff does day-in and day-out, aren't they expected to know which is the correct card.
2) Ended up staying in a Smoking room with a two year old daughter and wife when we had requested for Non Smoking room at the time of making the booking
3) Bed cover had scribbling marks of blue ball point pen at multiple places
4) Flush in the toilet used to work intermittently, the water pressure was super low and it took good 5 minutes to fill the flush tank
5) No iron and iron board in the room
6) No hooks in the toilet for hanging the clothes other than the rod along with towel racks which was right above the WC, so a guest can't hang his clothes while using the WC
7) Lifts either didn't have sensors at all, or God knows where they were, twice it happened that the doors started shutting while I was dragging out my daughter's stroller with she being on-board, fortunately she didn't get hurt as it was stroller which had to take the hit.

Stayed there last month. Booked the riverview room but no view to be honest. The room is right beside some noisy hotel turbine equipment that run throughout the night. Cannot sleep due to the noise. Aircond did not work, room was barely cold. Hot water was on and off.. Mostly just cold water. The reception people were not friendly especially the gay. Avoid this place if u can. Go somewhere else. I could only say the food for breakfast was okay...although there were only a few types of dishes. The waiter and waitresses were very hardworking and friendly. Apart from that I will never choose this hotel again.

Room Tip: Dont stay here. Thats my tip.

Definitely tourist hotel for short stay.
3 stars is overrated. Needs renovation. Dirty carpets and walls. Used interior. Aircon blows at max and cannot be regulated nor switched off.
After renowation it may have 2 stars as tourist budget hotel. Now it is not worth the price.

Room Tip: Leave the window open to vent the room. Aircon will work at max anyway so it will be cold.

My friend chose this hotel for us and I really enjoyed my stay there together. We booked a city view room but they upgraded us to a river view room which is very beautiful. The reception & restaurant staff are very friendly, helpful and polite. I know there are many choice of accommodation which is located at main touristy places but I like the location of our hotel as well, because its very quiet and we could have a lovely walk (about 10-15mins) to the main places along Malacca river. This hotel is not fancy but nice enough for us with what we paid. Malacca is also a beautiful town where I love it a lot.

Stayed for 2 nights there.
What I liked about the hotel
1. Staff were generally friendly and helpful
2. It is located next to Malacca River ... near enough for a leisurely 10-15 mins walk to Jonker Street.
3. Convenient basement carpark
4. Nice view from our 8th floor hotel room
5. Breakfast was at cafe with a relaxing view of the Malacca River. Nice palce for a leisurely breakfast.
Breakfast spread has a limited variety but good enough for a decent breakfast.

What I did not like
1. The only prominent signage is located at the top of the hotel building. So look up when you drive... knowing how to get to the hotel entrance is another story. It is just before the bridge - turn left into a small almost obscure road. What's worse, there is no hotel name or logo at the front of the hotel. One could easily drive past it without realising. The only prominent signage was inside the hotel at the reception area. We had to stop the car and look into the hotel to confirm that this is the hotel.
2. The toilet had a bath tub which doubles up as a shower area. The bath tub is quite high and inconvinient to get in and out especially for senior citizens.
3. The fridge in the room is controlled by the card inserted near the door. When we leave the room and remove the card, the fridge gets switched off. So we could not keep our drinks / fruits there to keep it cool. We had to keep the card inserted and use the manual key when we got out of the room. So much for energy saving !

Overall it was a good hotel to stay in.

Smooth check-in and hotel staff were friendly. We booked a deluxe room, the room is spacious, comes with basic amenities but looks old and tired. Anyway the river view is great. The breakfast buffet was ok and acceptable but not much choice, and hope the hotel can improve more quality coffee during breakfast. We enjoyed walking along the river and explored places nearby.
