Owner description: Take a journey into Old Malacca within our walls. Step through the doors and visit a fine example of a late 18th century two-storey building. “No 8” houses a permanent exhibit on the conservation and restoration process of the building, as well as a short history of early shophouse and Dutch hybrid domestic architecture. The house is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10:30am to 4pm. No entrance fee; but donations are welcome.

“Overrated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

There is not much to see in the house, but the staff was very informative. So if you are interested in the house or architecture in Malacca, it is a good idea to talk with him. You can take as many pictures as you want. Admission is free, but you can donate if you like.

“worth a quick look”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

it does not cost you anything, is a great (not busy) attraction to visit and the caretaker is great for a chat in regard to history in Malacca.

“Very interesting and informative”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

From the outside, it is easy to miss this place. It opens at 11am and a wonderful man who goes by the name of Mr.Goh has given us a very nice tour around this ancient building which has been painstakingly restored. This place is recommended for everybody who is a Malaysian (and non-Malaysians too!). Its hard for us kids to phantom how the people in the past live and we should at least learn some history which are not in our textbooks.

Admission is free and donations are welcomed here.
