“Delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2014

Loved the atmosphere and the food. We had once dinner and once lunch, food is cheap and good, friendly staff and good views on the river. Vest option between the cafés open in that area

“Average nyonya food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

The nyonya dishes were just average, we ordered a curry, sambal brinjal, otak-otak and commando fries. The otak otak felt like it was supermarket bought frozen type. The curry was too diluted and not creamy enough.
The brinjals and the commando fries were good.

“Way too long to get food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

We waited close to an hour for lunch. A ridiculous amount of time to wait for any food anywhere. And the beer is completely over priced. We left without our food we were so bloody annoyed! We refused to wait any longer and be ignored.

“Authentic Nyonya Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

Dinner for two, surprising very good food. Why surprising? we came across the 'coffeehouse' with a menu black board and 2 guys/staff smoking at the front. Walked in, a group of dinners - chatting over a finished meal left uncleared from the table. Even with this rather non promising start, the meal was very good. The Ikan Masak (Fish with Chilli & Onion) was complex, fragrant with a right balance of sweetness. The Ayam Masak Cili Garam (Nyonya Chicken) was a fusion of curry, lime, aniseed and more..... Kankung Belacan was fresh, cruchy, aromatic without being too salty. The service was good, they are there to take the order. They did not rush us, did not try to sell to us. I would preferred they clear the table when we are done. There was a short history of the restaurant owners family history, pictures of the old Malacca, which was very interesting. My wife and I had a very good night there.

“A pleasant place along the river”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

My wife and I enjoyed good service at a reasonable price alongside the Melaka River. The two different chicken curry dishes were excellent and reasonably priced, the seating arrangements--plastic chairs, etc.--are pretty standard in budget establishments in Melaka but that did not detract from the quality of what was offered.
