“Nice boutique hotel in an excellent location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

Called up the hotel before reaching and they send a staff waiting in front to assist us to the parking which was quite good. Check in was fast and great as the staff patiently recommended us places to eat.
We had a deluxe room and it was excellent with the mixture of ancient and modern design.
Location is even great as the Jonker Walk is just next street and everything is within walking distance. We just park our car at the carpark till we check out.
Overall, it's a very nice hotel and service is very good! Will definitely be back!

Courtyard@Heeren hotel is located right in the Chinatown World Heritage Site in Melaka, yet we didn't find it noisy on our recent visit. The traditional narrow, deep design of the house means that our bedroom had no external windows, but was otherwise comfortable, if a little small. Interior design round internal courtyards is very charming, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for a bedroom with external window.

We stayed here with our two children. The family room was perfect with clean facilities & the staff were lovely & very helpful. The hotel is located one block from the markets. Meaning we were able to walk everywhere & return quickly when we needed to with a tired child or too many packages. Breakfast is included & was a western style buffet. The four of us agreed this was the best place we stayed in Malaysia.

This is a very pretty Straits Chinese-themed boutique hotel in the old part of the City. It is a charming building, comprising a maze of staircases, courtyards and quadrants.

The location is good - situated on a charming narrow street in the old town, albeit its proximity to the Jonker market meant it could be noisy; these were not the two best nights' sleep I have ever had.

The staff are very friendly and helpful - they even stayed up until 3am so I could check-in (very) late.

Otherwise, the hotel was good but without being outstanding. The clean and tidy room was pleasant and looked good but had clearly been done up on the cheap. The same applied to the en suite.

Breakfast was pretty basic and the choice of foods could be expanded a bit.

Overall, I had an enjoyable stay albeit I would be concerned about Melaka's hotel industry if (as Trip Advisor says) this is the city's second best hotel!

This boutique hotel gives you great quality, especially at that price. The lobby looks great, rooms are clean and mosquito free. The hotel is situated in the middle of the town, but still oozes tranquility. Breakfast is across the street, and lives up to Western standards.

We drove down to Melaka for the weekend and stayed at the Courtyard for a night as we were a little late booking hotels, so we had to stay at 2, the duration of our stay. It was a little 'staycation' and it's always nice to visit the old quarter.

Courtyard is clean and beautifully themed as a Straits Chinese residence of old, the staff are helpful and efficient, if not always very welcoming. I believe the girl at the counter could have been a little bit more animated in her welcome and she appeared to have been going through the motions. At a time when you are surrounded by boutique hotels touting the best and the brightest you need to be on your toes and use every advantage.

The bedroom was nice, situated as it was next to an open Courtyard. We kept the blinds drawn so as not to frighten anyone should we be walking around in nowt but our towels.

Clean sheets, four poster bed, cool airconditioning, power shower, safe, and tea and coffee facilities. Check.

I felt the floor and room could have been softened a little by a rug or two but that's really nitpicking.

Breakfast was interesting in that it's held in a building a couple of steps off-property. It's in a separate house sort of diagonally opposite and you have to walk through a Nyonya Kebaya (Straits Chinese trad dress)/accessories shop. The breakfast was generous and some of it even yummy. Curiously, the same space didn't serve any other meal. I suspect that resources (manpower, space etc) has something to do with that.

The staff were very accommodating with my requests to store my bicycle and we had a most enjoyable and restful stay. I can definitely see myself coming back for the centrality of the location as well as the very decent rates and value.

We loved this small hotel - it is a very successful conversion of the old building, full of lovely touches: areas to sit with plants and a waterfall wall. The staff were so helpful and welcoming. The room we had was lovely, cool and stylish with good wifi, and a little verandah with a seat.
We were there for Chinese New Year and the town was heaving - it was enormous fun, everything decorated in red and gold. We were invited by the hotel staff to join in the lion dance festivity which was fascinating. If you like small hotels you will love it.

Room Tip: Rooms not at the front or the back (were ours was) may not have exterior windows.
