On our recent trip to Kuala Lumpur we had arranged to spend some time in Malaka for the night markets and history that this amazing town has. On consideration of which hotel we were going to stay in we always take into account that sometimes one hotel room is the same as another, so we went Boutique and booked, and then stayed in Courtyard@Heeren Boutique Hotel.
When booking I found the hotels website easy to navigate and as usual we booked the finest room in the hotel, as we love the extra room and space a suite often brings.
As soon as booking with Courtyard@Heeren I had maps in PDF form sent to me, and a pre-welcome email, which was a great touch. On arrival in Melaka we followed the easy to read map and found ourself driving in and out of narrow streets which heightened our excitement greatly. And then we saw the sign for the hotel, and pulled over and went inside.
As soon as I walked through the door I experienced something that I have never felt and seen before, as it was as though I we had walked into another world. We were greater from an counter way in front of the door instantly and as we traveled towards it through the water features and eclectic mix of Asian old world traditional furniture to the counter the english speaking receptionist and her co-worker quickly settled our details and we were having our car moved and we were told that the luggage was on its way to the suite.
As we walked upstairs and along interesting room doors and decor it was all happening a little too fast as there was so many amazing things to see on our way. Nothing was the same, features that did not indicate a hotel were everywhere, including baloney's looking over more water features and amazing sculpture and plants. We arrived at our room door and we were lead in.
The magic did not stop as we entered this amazing suite. Its clean lines, mixed with detail that I have never experienced before was mind blowing. And in the top centre of the room was our huge bed fully covered by a huge draping insect net.
After we collected ourselves we explored the room. Open plan divided by shutters and doors, which could be all opened to reveille every part of the room from the spa and rain shower bathroom in spotless white.
Over the course of our stay the things that amazed us were the bits and pieces in the hotel. The lack of noise, and the relaxing feeling that brought a true quality Boutique hotel its just reward.
Also as soon as we calmed down from our travel and excitement and amazement of the hotel, I immediately rang the front desk and wanted to extend our stay by a few days. This was not a hard decision to make, we were amazed at where we were staying.
Would I stay here over the Ritz in KL, YES. This is not a hotel, Courtyard@Heeren is a life experience. It was one street from the Jonker street markets, which we walked to each night, and the breakfast cafe that was across the road from the main hotel building held the same charm as the hotel itself.
The service was fantastic. Our room was unique and well maintained and so clean. Everything just clicked and Courtyard@Heeren will not be a one stay hotel for us!
The trip to find the hotel was an adventure for us, the hotel was a place we spent time in exploring, and our stay there was so memorable.
Justin and Eugene.
Go for the Premier Suite, the spa is so relaxing after a day of adventure and night markets.
