“A Hotel with A Very Strategic Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

Stayed at Da Som Inn for 3 nights. The room that I booked was Deluxe Double.

Pros:
1) Check in and out is fast.
2) Room is spacious.
3) The cleanliness of the room and bathroom is acceptable.
4) Air conditioner + fan = very cooling.
5) Shower is very strong.
6) Water dispenser is available.
7) Staffs are very friendly.
8) The location of the hotel is very strategic as it is just a walking distance to many tourist spots and famous restaurants including Jonker street, Tan Kim Hock Product Centre, Pak Putra Tandoori & Naan Restaurant and shopping malls like Mahkota Parade and Dataran Pahlawan. To be honest, the room is a bit pricey. If it is not because of its location, I would never stay at the hotel.
9) The hotel has no parking slots. However, if you have your own transport, you can park your car at a nearby private parking space (within walking distance) for RM5 a day. If you don't want to use the private parking space, you can buy parking coupons at a shop next to the hotel.

Cons:
1) The room is only secured with normal lock.
2) Room floor was dusty.
3) Staffs go back home at night. So, no one is taking care of the hotel.
4) Although the bed is comfortable to sleep, pillows are paper thin. Luckily, I brought along my own blanket, or else I would be frozen to death :)
5) The room comes with breakfast sets for 2 persons but we only realized about it the day we checked out.
6) The room has an old TV with very few and blurry TV channels.
7) Complimentary bottles of water were not provided.
8) All remote controls are not working. Even if they work, we have no control over the air-Cond temperature.

I was told by the staffs that they just take over the hotel, not even 1 month. I guess they can it an even better hotel.

Staying there for 2 nights. Our quad room is really big for a family, The bed should be King size..2 king size beds $179 per night and the space in the room are really big. The red bedsheet do look a little bit old but clean and comfortable.

The location is really good. coming out from the inn, on your right straight is the old temple. Next shop or 2nd shop (can't remember) right side again is the dim sum cafe...lots of people but we didn't try it. After the dim sum shop, there is a small road on your right, turn in and there is a vegetarian cafe..didn't try as too full.

Da Som Inn opp is the Masjid. The road is really small but it was one way so more safe if compare to Penang road..so small already and yet two ways. Cross the road to opp Masjid and turn right then turn left to the small road, we found a Hello Kitty theme guesthouse and Hello kitty dessert theme house. The food is nice to us and we really enjoy it so much as we love Hello kitty so much.

Jonker street is just at the back of the masjid. The inn staff told us that the Jonker night street is on only on friday, sat and sun which we just happen to be there on fri & sat...lots of people and things to buy and foods too.

Chicken rice ball is a must try...delicious. They are few chicken rice shop there...long queue.

Lots of muzium..can walk around. Big shopping mall like Dataran Pahlawan and Melaka Parade near the A' Formosa which was at the end of the Jonker street after cross the bridge. Still walking distance. Melaka is a nice place to spend in 2 or 3 days will do.

Toiletries are provided in Da Som Inn except toothbrush & tooth paste. Water can be refill downstairs and hot water too. It closed at 10pm but the inn guests can use the key to open the side stairs door.

As our room face the masjid, at first we worry we will be disturbed during the morning prayer but
so far no problem. we still continue our sleep and my children have such a good sleep that they didn't even heard it. Will stay here again if we come to Melaka for holiday.

Short stay with my family... the person in charge is very friendly, hotel room size is really big for the price i am paying...the hotel location is just beside a thumbs up dim sum restaurant and 5 mins walk to the Jonker street's main road. My only concern are the parking space around that area, for those who are vegetarian, there are a shop with very near walking distance from the Inn that are selling good vegetarian breakfast and lunch.

Simple, but nice and clean place in a former Chinese shophouse, just a few steps away from Jonker Street. Our spacy room with a window opening to an atrium had an aircon, a ceiling fan and hot water in the shower.
Pretty quiet at night, but sometimes the Muezzin from the Mosque across the street might use the speakers to wake you up. He did so on the Friday morning of our stay, but not the following morning.
Would definitely book again, we were very satisfied, good value for money.

Just came back from Malacca and 5 of us stayed in Room No 2 upstairs for one night - we had an additional single bed to cater for 5 people and it is only RM44 per person - for such a great location with Jonker Street is just a stone throw away, you can't ask for more!

Their facilities have certainly improved compared to my previous stay there, which was few years ago. Wifi connection is available at the lobby. Free flow of drinking water. So much wall arts to enjoy, and the rooms are spacious and clean. Hot shower is available 24x7. We even get to watch Lee Chong Wei played at the world championship badminton semi-finals at the lobby - they have Astro Sports channels!

Malacca, my favourite town in Malaysia. Always love to simply spend a weekend here with friends n family and simply enjoy the Jonker Street just the way it is. A must visit place if you are visiting Malaysia!

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, choose the rooms not facing the main street. But for me, I am a good sle...

This place is right where you want it: bang in the middle of China town, walking distance from all restaurants, shopping and attractions. Clean, large rooms with good size bathroom in an old house. We had a room at the front - try to avoid this as the mosque is positioned right across the street (...), so we heard the 5.45 calling to prayer load and clear.
At the time of our visit, they stopped doing breakfast/laundry and restaurant.Very friendly owner and family.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back - unless you like the early sounds of a mosque..

This isn't the newest or the most modern hotel, but would you expect that for the price you're paying?!

The rooms are fine, electric shower so not the most powerful but adequate. Wifi not a great connection in rooms. The location is fantastic. Right next to jonker and all the bars/restaurants you'd ever need.

Visit the geographer bar while you're there and a cafe called limeau limeau or something similar. Great for western breakfasts!
